Persona 4 Golden and Halo: Last Light

I had a little adventure today. I went to my local retro VG shop, Jay Street Video Games, to get a Gamecube memory card. I traded in the backlog games I played over the last few weeks and got just enough to cover the new and overpriced $14 card. Then, as I was going home, I was reminded by a Wii icon on the back of the package just where I put my old memory card. I had used my Wii as a Gamecube recently and stowed the memory card with it. I checked to be sure first, and then went back to Jay Street, returned the new one, and got Persona 4 Golden for Vita instead. Picture of that and more below:

I got kinda bored of Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright. It's too easy and there's not enough customization of your characters, or your castle, to satisfy me. I should've gotten Conquest. So I'll break out the Vita and try Persona 4 Golden, which everyone has raved about since its release several years ago.

Then I finished Troy Denning's Halo: Last Light book over lunch at Chick-fil-A. The book is a bit like CSI in the Halo Universe. The main character is a murder investigator (shown on the cover in the upper right hand corner) who ends up working with Fred, a Spartan II (Master Chief type Spartan) - shown in the foreground, and three members of a Spartan III team (one of which is shown in the upper left). The Spartan IIIs have chameleon-like light armor suits and take meds (smoothers) to beef up their strength and resistence to pain. This group becomes a strange team as they end up in the middle of a war over what might be hidden in a cave on the planet they are on. I thought it was good; although, the ending left some questions I wish were answered. I'm looking forward to the next one.

That's a day. See ya.

I just can't get into Persona games.  I guess I just like JRPG's where it's a journey and there's towns and stuff.  Love the battle system though.

I think I have my gamecube card.  That's the only retro system I keep out, for some reason.  I guess I've been meaning to play Skies of Arcadia again.....

I've always wanted that improved version of Skies of Arcadia on Gamecube, but I still have my Dreamcast copy. I got stuck on one of the airship battles when I played it last.

Well it's no secret that I loved P4 on the PS2. The only game I remember playing and then playing again immediately. I started Golden but got distracted. I need to get back to it. (Like many games)

I played several hours of Persona 3 FES on the PS2 way back when it came out. It was really interesting. I think I had it on a rental and didn't have time to finish it.

I need to pick up a GameCube Memory Card still. I want to play the Star Wars X-Wing game I bought but I keep forgetting to hit the local indy game store. I think its time to start picking up Vita games before they are hard to find in good shape. Of course I really should actually find and charge my Vita.

Halo CSI sounds interesting. That would actually make an interesting animated series.

I was shocked they were being sold new for $14. I expected a used one for like $5. I think it might be better to get one online. I'm just glad I found my old one. I don't think I need two of them yet.

I fully intend to get Persona 4 Golden but I figure, what's the point until I play through Persona 3 Portable? P3P is on my list of backlog games to play this year, but that list is rather bloated and there's no way I'll get to them all.

I love when sci-fi delves into the mystery genre, like some of Isaac Asimov's robot novels or his Lucky Star series.

I've only ever played Persona 4. I played a few hours of it on a rental when it came out years ago and now I'm playing it again. I don't know if or how the stories of the Persona games connect, but so far Persona 4 seems to stand alone and not require any prior knoweledge of the series.

Sci-fi and mystery. Sounds like Dr. Who to me.
