I absolutely love collecting comics that are game related. Especially when they give me some back story. Helps me appreciate the game more. Will have read this series.
The Last of Us Gets a Comic

Today, or rather yesterday now, The Last of Us: American Dreams #1 came out, and I thought I'd get it and see how it is.
The story so far seems to be an origin story for Ellie, the young woman you see in the upcoming game. She's even younger here, going to school, and witnessing her city under some sort of martial law as some kind of mysterious plague and a rebel group, The Fireflies, threaten the city. Ellie is a feisty girl who gets into fights and is generally disobediant towards authority figures. She meets an equally daring young girl who seems to have some sympathies for the Fireflies. Their meeting is likely to result in some sort of dangerous adventure in the city in upcoming issues.
The art is good, although I'm struggling to assign an age to Ellie here. On the cover she looks like a teenager but in the comic pages she seems more of a tween or middle schooler. It may be just the style of art which gives her a round face and big eyes that suggests a preteen.
Despite the fact she seems younger than she should, I think it's safe to say this comic is taking place just before the events of the game and that Joel will make an appearance before the four part comic ends.
On the back page was the ad for the game, and I had to scan it. I didn't realize it was coming out in June. I thought it was scheduled for a holiday release. This may mean I'll be preordering it.
