Regular Game Day Returns

Back to a normal schedule (for me anyway) with being off Sunday-Monday (Fri and Sat were total hell at work btw, but I listened to a lecture on Buddhism while knight driving and it actually helped me to power through it). Today I didn't have all day because of a family dinner but I played a few things: Pockey Card Jockey, Defense Grid 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

I brought my 3DS with me when I went to Mark's place and played the demo for Pocket Card Jockey while my XBO updated and during other lulls in the normal action - like the Philadelphia Eagles football game. This solitare/horse racing game is quite amazing. The solitare element is far from the only thing you do in the game and there are variations on it that make it more interesting in this context - time limits for instance. I'm really digging it.

Then I tried a few levels in Defense Grid 2 on the highest difficulty settings. I played a Super Grinder mode on one map (that's 100 waves of progressively harder enemies) on Elite and got to about wave 13 before getting beat. Then I did it on Hard and got beat around wave 33. Normal I beat but didn't make the gold medal level of scoring. So I played Easy and won with flying colors. I find it weird that with only a few more cannons on the level I was playing, I was able to get the gold medal. It seems cannons are crucial to a great score. Whatevs. I just like setting up patterns and watching them play out. Really studying the game to beat it is a numbers battle that isn't my interest. I want to win with style, I guess.

I watched Mark get to 100 medals and not get the 100 gold medals achievement. He got several more golds and still no achievement. What gives? I guess it's sort of random when it will pop up after the stats page reads 100 gold medals. That's disappointing. I don't want to grind another 100 golds to see if it will pop up. I think I'll just play a level or two every game day until it hits.

Then in the final minutes before dinner I started XCOM: Enemy Within. I was really in the mood for some turn-based strategy, and I've been wanting to play this since it came out years ago. Well, I got through the first mission, which I'd played before in the demo, before I had to stop. I'm really looking forward to more but we'll see what happens tomorrow. I have so much on my plate right now, I don't know what will happen.

So until then, bye there.

I was just talking to my friend about the movie Little Buddha, by Bernardo Bertolucci.  Great film.  Rangergirl is always telling me to spend more time studying buddhism (i'm knee deep in hinduism a lot) but I haven't had time.

I'm finding Buddhism to be really helpful so far.

Yay!  I'm so glad you got to play Pocket Card Jockey!  It's pretty fun, isn't it?  Neat thing is that if you do decide to buy the game (it's only six bucks), the progress you made in the demo will carry over in the full game!  I introduced so many developers at PAX to Pocket Card Jockey and Gotta Protectors!

By the way, I hear there is a Skylanders event at GameStop this weekend.

PCJ is really fun!

I'll keep watch on that. Gamestop posts their weekly ad on Wednesday.
