Dragon Quest Builders Has Me Stuck

So I raised my town to level 3, and now I can't get new quests without tearing everything down or restarting. Apparently, you have to build within the original 32X32 grid of the town as you found it or the rooms don't give you points towards leveling. At least, that's what I've read. I extended the town because it's pretty small and built a nice barbeque kitchen and armory with flagstone flooring but neither counted for more than just plain rooms because they were just outside that original grid. I had extended the wall, and they were both within it, but that didn't matter. Nothing in the game tells you this is a rule, so I'm really frustrated. I really don't want to take apart this town I've built over ten or more hours. I had to stop and play Minecraft with Mark to think about it. I still don't have a satisfying solution. I may be done with DQ Builders. I don't know.

They actually do tell you that at the beginning, but I agree it's frustrating. Depending on how far you spread out you might be able to get away with just making the buildings smaller. Once you've gotten credit for the blueprint construction you can change them as you like, provided you keep the items in the room that specify its purpose.

I'm not surprised I missed that. I've got Minecraft on the brain. So I started crafting and building like I do in Minecraft, forgeting about some of the limitations here. I'll go back and restructure the town at some point. I want to see more of the game. I saw a dragon just before I stopped but I couldn't fight it with the weapons I had. It was a neat experience to find one sleeping, wake it up, and get a face full of fire.

All I know is that sucks. Games that have those sorts of rules just aren't fun.

Maybe they thought I wouldn't dream of changing the boundaries of the famous Cantlin.

What kind of game doesn't warn you about this, and that is one crappy rule. I would have said F this after that because it sounds like more work than game.

Apparently it did tell me somewhere, according to Julian, but it should've reminded me when I extended the walls or built a room outside the not well marked boundaries. I had to go online to find out what was going on. It's ok though. I'm getting excited again thinking about tearing down the town and rebuilding it. You don't really lose points by destroying a room, even though it tells you you do. So you could, in theory, just rebuild the same room over and over and level up that way. That doesn't sound fun to me, so I'll rebuild the whole town to something I like.
