My Black Thursday

What do you call Thanksgiving day shopping since stores like Target open at 6pm? I bought some stuff on both Thurday and Friday, but mostly Thursday. Since last year, I've been heading to the shops after Thanksgiving. I usually arrive there way late for the real crowds, like 11pm, so it's kind of nice to look through what's left without getting trampled.

I dodged a bullet with buying anything big. I didn't get a Wii-U because, at Target, there was only the Mario Kart bundle, and it wasn't marked down at all, still $300, so not yet. Then I didn't get a new iPod Touch. Target had some 6th generation ones for $150, a little less than the $200 current 16 GB one, but they had all sold out. I wanted to get the current one, but I think it's too small. My 2nd generation iPod is just the right size, about the size of a small iPhone, and I don't want to go smaller. However, it's beginning to crash on me pretty frequently now. I'm considering an iPad Mini, but those things are $300. We'll see. For the moment I'm putting up with the frequent crashes.

So then let's talk about what I did get. I picked up Lego Dimensions and Skylanders Imaginators starter packs for about half price, $40 each. I also got the Chopscotch sensei Skylander figure for $10, down from $15. On Friday, I looked through all the sales of downloadable games on both Xbox One and PS4, lots of tempting stuff. I wondered where PSOne Classics were on PS4 until I found out those games only work on PSP, PS3 and Vita. So I booted up my Vita to check that stuff out. No real sales there though. I ended up getting Darkest Dungeon for PS4/Vita for $15, down from $25. I actually paid for it with money I had in my PSN account since last year. So no new money was spent.

That was about it for my gifts to myself. I should wrap them and label them from Santa and put them under a tree. I probably won't play them at least until Xmas anyway. I'm too busy with Doom at the moment. More about that at the end of the weekend as well as some stuff about No Man's Sky, which I played some hours of just before Thanksgiving dinner. Also, Severed that I've been playing on Vita. Got some good time with that while I did laundry at a laundromat near me after shopping on my black Thursday. My building's washer/dryers are just dreadfully bad. So I go to the laundromat now, and it's a good place to play some handhelds for about 90 minutes.

So, as Hugh Sterbakov used to say on Dan Amrich's Activision podcast, oh bye there.

My Black Friday (or Thursday evening rather) deal was getting a PS4 for a little over 200 bucks!

Nice. I wanted a Wii-U for that price. I could've gotten one used at Gamestop, but I want a shinny new one in a sealed box.

I bought nothing other than gas on Thursday, and yesterday I just bought milk and eggs so I wouldn't have to go to the grocery store today. I might go to The Game Box and see if I can find something for the favorite nephews (and myself) for Small Business Saturday.

That sounds relaxing and very healthy. Good for you.

I had to work Friday, so not terribly relaxing. People kept asking me if it was crazy because it was Black Friday, and I kept explaining that no, this was just a normal Friday at Bow Street Market.

Yesterday was nice, though. Beau and I went to Topsham, two towns over, and I went to The Game Box and got Jason's youngest brother a gift card and myself a game, and then I took Beau to Pet Life and got him a new toy and a new comfy bed for the cat. Then I went home and took Beau for a walk and watched Hulu for the rest of the day.

I worked Friday as well. It was so slow, I thought I'd just dissipate into nothing being so bored.

Saturday sounded like a good time for you. I wore myself out at the gym and then worked until I couldn't bare it, and then beyond. Sunday I was kind of worn out most of the day. Hopefully Monday will be great and I'll be fully recovered.

Trample Day, USA!

I guess cyber Monday is going to bring a risk of carpal tunnel syndrome as people mash those refresh buttons. Definitely better than trampling, though.

I found that if you roll into the stores an hour after they open, you miss all the crazy folks who want TVs. Target didn't have much for me other than some Blu-Ray combo packs for $6. Did you get Dimensions with the Supergirl minifigure? I'm still angry that they made it a special figure.

Looks like Supergirl was with the PS4 version for a limited time. I have the Batman XBO one. I'll have to keep my eye out for that PS4 pack. Maybe I'll pick it up on another sale sometime just to have the figure.

I hope they release Supergirl as a regular figure. I want to add it to my collection
