Archie Comics who own the rights to Sonic the Hedgehog (20 years) and Mega Man ( 25) are finally doing a crosover of the Two, True, Blue, Bot, Bashers in a 12 part event for 4 months. to celebrate both the Mega Man franchise and the Sonic comics anniversary.

I have reviewed the Prelude Issues [here] which will be available free on Free Comicbook Day in may.

MegaMan #24

Writer: Ian Flynn             Pencils: Jamal Peppers

When Worlds Collide Part 1: Kindred Spirits

The comic opens up with everygaming fan boys fantasy since Mario vs Sonic... Mega Man vs SonicTongue Out

So immeadiatly we're of to a good start, we learn further details on how the villains of Science Eggman and Dr.Wiley began their collaboration and by chance found each other and realised what this oppotunity presented, we see their deadly plan unfold from the moment of the Genesis Wave (an Eggman devise used to reboot the Sonic the Hedgehog Universe).

The growng relationship and comradery between the two is the highlight of the whole issue seeing both their similar, yet distinctly different personalities work off each other. This gives the story credibility, behind their history idiocy they are still thoughtful and talented geniuses.

Like army general they first strenghen their army and fortress but after they then pick off craft the most basic of battle strategies, pick off the weakest tagets first all so they can deal with what ailse them. But before they can get to the Two True Blue Duo, it ends on a Cliffhangar showing these evil men mean business!

The Art is good, as before it's only as good as the Eggman/Wiley interactions meaning through his art he convey's the right sense of "to and fro" if you will, if I have one critism (but this may extend to other artist to) is that Eggman is too short,

conclusion

This is solid, the best thing about this issue is explained in the actual inner-monologues,this whole event won't directly effect any of the storylines that went before and doesn't involve what happened before meaning anyone can get into this on a clean slate. It's a fun and strong start to this awesome crossover!

The is V saying "To be Continued..."

It still blows my mind that these two are coming together in a comic. I'm definitely going to have to check out that free prelude that comes out in May. Can't wait to see it and all of the artwork in it's glory

I knew this would happen the moment Archie owned the rights to Mega Man and it has met my expectations Smile

Good to know I don't need prior knowledge to enjoy.

This is usually an area most cross overs get wrong but here it's simple and provdes enough exposition to make it work.Laughing
