Achieving the Ultimate Evil This Xmas Eve

That title might scare you but it's just Mark and I playing Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition this Xmas eve. I had to work for three hours in the middle there, but I dashed back to his place and picked up where I left off, chasing the Dream Team achievement.

The Dream Team achievement is getting all 6 character classes to level 70. This is seriously time consuming playing solo, but by following around Mark's level 70, paragon 70 character around, it's power leveling time. I got the Witch Doctor to 70 normally, but I leveled a Demon Hunter to 70 this way, and today I started a Wizard. When I first brought him in, following Mark's beefed up Warrior and letting him do most of the killing, I gained a level a minute for thirty minutes. I kept urging Mark to up the difficulty to Torment II from just Torment, but he was having too much fun being O.P. .  The higher the difficulty, the more XP you get. I wanted to see how fast a level 0 character would progress behind a 70/70 on Torment II, or even III. A level a minuted is just fine, though. Later that progress slowed a bit to a level every ten minutes or so. By the end of Xmas eve and four hours of play time, I'd gotten 43 levels on my Wizard. That's some evil leveling.

I'd played a Wizard before in Diablo III, but this time I built his abilites differently. I focused on explosive spells because I wanted to get that Destruction Derby achievement for breaking 50 objects in quick succession. I tried it on a level with a lot of breakable stuff, but didn't get it. I went in with Mark, though, and maybe two are too many. I'll try it again solo and see if I can do it.

I have to say, with the kind of spells I'm using, Diablo III looks really amazing. I lob these blue spheres into the air that radiate lightning all over; then, I drop a frozen meteor on the battlefield and shards of ice go everywhere; then, I shoot a fireball that lays down a path of fire. In the middle of it all is Mark's Warrior chopping away. It looks fantastic! Colors explode like a Christmas in hell.

Well, even on Xmas, angels like us gotta fight the demons.

Definitely not. I got worried about disturbing the neighbors upstairs at one point. Lots of demons growling and explosions going off. Hellish cacophony.

We've been slowly making our way through Diablo III for several months now, though we played it only once in December (busy month!). I think it'd be kind of boring solo (haven't tried) but I really enjoy it as a multiplayer game.

I like it solo as well. There's lots of ways you can challenge yourself and different character builds definitely result in fantasically different visual effects in action.
