still sucking the marrow out of Diablo, I see? Cool. Yeah, I didn't have high hopes for the Ass Creed movie. I like Fassbender though.

Spent it playing Diablo III: U.E.E. with Mark and seeing Assassin's Creed with my friend Sean. Details, details.
Diablo III: U.E.E.:
Mark and I finished the main story, and started Adventure mode in hardcore mode. Along the way I mananged to get the "break 50 items" achievement. I thought this would be tricky but we got to this large cemetary late in the campaign and I just let all my area effect abilities out of the bag and ran around destroying everything I could find. I actually got to almost 70. Mark saw what I was doing and did the same, also unlocking the achievement. Finishing the campaign on hardcore unlocks two achievements tied to beating the last two bosses. The next achievement in hardcore was getting to level 70. We were both in the 40s after the campaign, so on we went to adventure mode. I didn't know you could play adventure mode on hardcore, but you can. We did some Nephalem Rifts and some bounties before I had to go to the movies.
Assassin's Creed film (maybe mild spoilers below):
I'd say, as video game movies go, this wasn't bad, but as movies go, it wasn't good. I expected better in the 3D department. I thought there would be lots of jumping from high places that would look great in 3D. There were some, but it didn't really impress me. The best sequence in 3D was at the beginning where there's this view from an eagle flying over and into a besieged city. The rest really didn't need the 3D treatment. Mostly, I felt the movie wasn't all that exciting, which is strange since there's so much action in it. I think most of the performances were a little lacking emotionally. Everyone was so restrained and serious. There was little to generate much emotion either. There's almost no close relationships in the movie. Also, it was kind of vague on the actual purpose of this "apple of eden" sacred object that everyone was after. Somehow it was the key to controling people's minds and I guess that's part of the whole holy relic thing. A relic can help strengthen belief around a church that has one, but here it's presented as some scientific discovery, a key to changing human DNA with no detailed explanation. I think, without a strong description of the thing that is the center of the story, you kind of don't care that much if anyone gets it or doesn't. So Sean and I walked out of there kind of disappointed. I just wish there were more vertigo inducing moments in the 3D version.
