That’s the stage I was at in Minecraft: XBO Edition earlier today. In my never ending attempt to make this game more focused, I’ve created stages of progress and named them. First I was a Caver, then a Villager, Miner and now Nethernaught. Later I will become a Scholar and then an Ender, at last. Let me break these stages down for you:
Caver: This is the stage of wandering around the Overworld looking for basic supplies like wood, food, coal and cobblestone. Then I go spelunking, but not too deep, in the hopes of finding some ready iron ore for armor and better tools. Finally, I search for a preexisting village, which is usually somewhere on the map. Today I found three, all within close proximity to each other - a rare find.
Villager: Once I find a village, it’s time to settle down a bit. I set up a bed, crafting table and furnaces in the biggest house. The villagers don’t seem to mind, but they do hang around creepily over my bed when I sleep. Then, after maybe planting some sugar cane for paper, I venture more deeply into the local natural caves looking for rare elements like red stone, gold, diamond and obsidian. Usually, after a few dives, I find just enough of what I need to open the Nether Portal and fully equip myself with iron tools and weapons.
Miner: This is somewhat intertwined with Nethernaught as they kind of happen at the same time, but basically this is when I dig a mine shaft right in the village down to Y=12, the level of lava pools and rare minerals. Mark likes to go all the way to Y=0, and bedrock, but 12 is where I find diamond right out in the open. Maybe not as much as Mark who mines out huge chambers at bedrock, but my method is less labor intensive and I get what I need. This mine will be my regular source of minerals for the rest of the game.
Nethernaught: This is a thorough search of the Nether. It involves a lot of fighting mobs and gathering of key ingredients for the Brew Stand and Eyes of Ender. I realized today that the first task should be to battle the Ghasts via bow and arrow. Last few times I went in just to scout, I got ambushed by those mad bombers and got killed.
Scholar: This is when I go in search of the Stronghold to gain access to its library, which I then steal and bring back to my village so I can surround my Enchantment Table with its bookshelves. This is required to boost the Enchantment Table’s powers to the maximum degree. Enchantments are crucial towards making fighting and resources gathering easier.
Ender: The final stage of my game. I activate the End Gate in the Stronghold and battle the Ender Dragon. This requires all the preparations I have made up to this point with the Brew Stand providing me potions and the Enchantment Table boosting my gear. Hopefully by this time I will be donned in all diamond armor and wielding a badass loot boosting, super knockback, fiery diamond sword.
I’ve been getting to the beginning of the Nethernaught stage in about 2 hours recently. I’ve done it faster but only with some luck. I’m thinking each successive stage will take another 2 hours each coming to 8 hours total. I’ll be keeping track of my progress from here out so we’ll see how fast I can do it. I’d like to be able to do the whole thing in more like 6 hours.
Oh, yea, Mark and I got the achievement for repawning the Ender Dragon a few days ago. I discovered the Ender Dragon isn’t that hard to beat, but we had the respawning ritual wrong and had to remake a few crystals. Also, don't look Endermen in the eyes, they get. . . well. . . kind of pissed.
