E3 2017 Reactions: Nintendo

Here's some of what stood out for me in Nintendo's E3 showcase.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had loads of epic visuals. It reminds me of the opening cinematic to Final Fantasy XII. I should really get a Switch when I can.

Fire Emblem Warriors will be like Dragon Quest Warriors, I guess, and we’ll slice and dice the hoards. I suppose that means the strategy elements are out. Fine. I’ll check it out anyway.

The Breath of the Wild DLC packs are just . . . wow! I want to play this game. I like the amiibos. They are definitely worth collecting.

Mario and Rabbids together? Wah?! After watching it, I feel it’s kind of neat. I like those Rabbids and their humor but what about the gameplay. In the past they were sometimes fine and sometimes really annoying. This looks good though will less gimmicky Wiimote shaking nonsense.

Mario is in a truly open world in Super Mario Odyssey. Cool! He can possess creatures and objects with his hat. Interesting. It reminds me of the way Crypto could possess the minds of any human in Destroy All Humans!. Mario gets to possess vehicles and objects, so that’s even cooler and expands the gameplay exponentially.

Overall a pretty good showing by Nintendo. I really could care less about the portablitiy of the Switch in that opening segement. I want those big epic titles for my tv like Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles.

Super Mario Odyssey was by far the most ineresting thing they showed for me. Metroid Prime 4 announcement is nice I guess, but that's literally all it is. I could have created my own title card for it and had the exact same reaction, since it would have been just as much of a commitment to actually complete that game.

Zelda and Mario do have me wanting a Switch though, I admit.

I wish there was some gameplay footage, or even just a teaser trailer, for Metroid Prime 4.

I don't use my Switch as a portable system at all.  When I'm out and about, I don't have to have a video game on me EVERYWHERE I go.

Those commercials for Switch look so unreal to me. I have never seen a group of people playing a multiplayer video game in a park or anywhere outside of a home.

If you like Nintendo's franchises, you definitely want to get a Switch. By middle of next year, a lot of Big N series will be on the console, as we saw from their direct. And these games will all be great! Metroid, Pokemon, Kirby, and Yoshi are all coming next year, and Mario Odyssey alone is worth the purchase!

I'm looking at probably a year of scraping by right now. It sucks, but that's how it is for me. I got to change my career and start living like I should be for once. Then I'll be getting a Switch for sure.

Once I get things settled down, I'll get a Switch. Aside from my love of Nintendo, I like the dual portability/TV thing. On a more muted scale, I enjoyed the option of playing at home or on the go with the Vita and the ultra-cheap Vita TV, so I'm down with the Switch. Probably mostly use it at home on the TV.

I really think I'd never take it out of its holder, but who knows. I have to get it in my hands and see how I live with it. Right now I've had little time for portable gaming.

I didn't watch much of Nintendo's presentation so I really can't comment, but about the point of having the Switch as a portable device, I could see using it on a long trip or flight, but keeping it in a bag for day to day use doesn't make sense to me.

If I lived in a house, I would totally carry it around with me. Maybe play it on the porch.
