You'd think Minecraft was a peaceful game of mining and crafting, but I spent a lot of time killing things and watching things get killed today.
In survival mode, I tried to craft all the books needed to build my own library without having to go to the Nether, finding the Stronghold and thieving its library. I had hoped it would be faster and less dangerous. It was certainly less dangerous, but it didn’t save any time.
To build the full library, you need 39 bookcases, which require a lot of wood (easy to find), 117 books, which require 117 leather, and 348 paper made from harvested sugar cane. The sugar cane proved fairly easy to grow and harvest, and not too terribly time consuming. The leather, though, require cows, which drop one leather each. I corralled over a dozen and bred them. Then, while I waited for the young to grow up, I roamed the world for more cows and more sugar cane. After about the same amount of time it usually takes me to get to the Nether and find the Stronghold, I had 47 books made. So unless I can figure out how to harvest more leather faster, this way is not going to save me any time. Horses drop two leather each but they are less common, more difficult to coral, and they are harder to breed. Plus, I don’t like killing them. Frankly, I don’t like killing anything in this game, but there’s no other way to get leather. You can’t shear cow like sheep.
At that point, I got thoroughly tired of it all, so I quit and dropped into Mark’s creative mode game, and we blew things up to the extreme. First I tried out minecarts with TNT and hoppers, and then I got mischievous and spawned The Wither to see what it would do. It wrecked everything it came across. Mark and I both got really into messing around with it, and spawned all sorts of mobs and animals to see how it would react to them. The Wither attacked everything that moved, but it especially went after anything that attacked it. Then we dropped in some Golems. They attack mobs of all sorts but only if they are attacked. They cleared out the usual mobs but couldn’t reach the flying Wither. Sometimes, though, the Wither would be drawn down to the ground, and the Golems could attack it. It was really fun to conduct this symphony of destruction, and many video clips were made.
I think, though, I really want to get away from Minecraft now. I’d like to get back to Halo 5 and finish it along with Halo Wars 2, not to mention another rental on the way for next weekend.

Thanks. I was trying to think of all the standout tracks on different Megadeth stuff. Craft in Mine is meant to be "Hook in Mouth," but I'm least proud of that and "Craft in Peace" because eh. I threw a couple actual Megadeth songs in there for effect both times.
As for Bullprick, I mean it's not like Minecraft has cows having sex in it, right? Wonder why they didn't just have bulls roaming around. Maybe the Minecraft world is like Themyscira for cows?
Yea, well, you can build the Enchantment Table and then surround it with bookcases. Mark and I call it a library, but it looks kind of weird. Like a shed made out of bookcases full of books. In the Woodland Mansion we found today though, there were true libraries with stacks of books and narrow paths in between. And the other day, I made my own library and a building around it and put a sign out front saying "Library. Wipe you Feet." . Then The Wither destroyed it with it's firey body. Like Trump destroying social programs.
There seems to be always some new way to approach the game or a new way to think about getting some of these crafting projects done. And I haven't even really delved into red stone circuits or the complexities of minecarts that much. I did discover light sensitive switches and pressure plates recently though. There's some cool automation you can do with those.
