I started some Fire Emblem Echoes [FEE] the other night. I’m really loving it so far. The game dives right into battles. Fire Emblem Fates Birthright lost me with all the other stuff you could do at the castle. I like in FEE that you can have the dialog run automatically instead of having to hit “A” after every sentence. I was heavily multitasking the other night listening to the dialog and music while I wrote my blog. I really enjoyed that. I want to find time all week to play some more. We’ll see if I can do it around work and school.

Then, today, Mark and I went to Walmart so he could spend his gift card. While we were there, I looked at the Hotwheels and saw the 1960s Batmobile. So I had to have that.

(not my pic, but the same)

Then we went to Spider-Man Homecoming and I made up for my spending by getting into the movie for free with my Regal Theaters rewards card. The movie was really great. I really enjoyed it. I was impressed with Michael Keaton. He’s become a really great actor. He was super scary talking to Peter just before the final act of the film.

Back at his place, I played a ton of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean and nearly finished the story for all four movies. I was on the very last chapter when I got stuck. I’ve gotten stuck a few times in this game and had to bring up a wiki to figure it out. A lot of times it’s just something stupid that I missed. This Lego game is very good. It has a ton of creative ideas and interesting levels that frankly surprised me. Usually the Lego games are pretty straightforward, but this one throws in a few levels with different types of gameplay. I’m thinking of one level right now where you are riding a giant rolling wheel and have to enter the center of it to fight a villain. I’ll probably work on this game to 100% completion. Usually this can be done in Lego games without too much pain. I did it with Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga, I can do it with this. I haven’t run into any bad glitches yet, so the game seems very solid. So that won’t stop me.

Well, back to work.

I like Michael Keaton too.  He has become a great actor. I mean, he was good before, but age has given him a lot of depth. Did u see Spotlight, where he's the newspaper editor investigating the church molestations in Boston. He was good in that.

I didn't. I didn't even see him in Birdman either. I guess this is the first thing I've seen him in in a long time.

I need to watch Birdman again, since I was sleepy the first time.

I showed my class Spotlight last year, since it references a lot of stuff they need to know.

He is really intimidating in Homecoming, but I wanted more of him. For me, the movie was good, but not great, and I honestly thought all of the MCEU tie-in stuff took some of its heart away.

yeah I pretty much feel the same way, though there were great parts. I'm just a little spiderman fatigued I think.

I wanted more Keaton as well. I like Spider-Man's villains. I could go less with Spider-Man and his angst.

I could never get into the Fire Emblem series. I wanted to, but the whole perma-death thing always frustrated me. I've gotta try it again.

You can turn off perma death in the newer games. In Echoes there's actually a feature that lets you rewind battles if you lose someone but sometime you have to rewind quite a few turns to get the character out of danger. Still perma death is no longer a problem.

At the beginning of Echoes you can choose difficulty. Normal has permadeath, which is what I chose, but the level below that lets your dead characters revive after a battle.

Echoes if great! I bought a used copy based on what Julian said about it and I love it.

I'm really obsessed with it right now. I'm only a few hours in, so my initial judgment that it's too easy will very likely change. I'm playing with permadeath. I just like that danger. I've already lost my cleric and a pegasus knight.

That is a nice Batmobile! I call that line of Hot Wheels the fancy line because there is more detail, and cost more. I thought about getting those a couple of times but I would end up opening them.

Lego Pirates is really good. When I finished playing it, it was one of my favorites.

Ok. It's the fancy line. I was wondering why it was different from the others with similar packaging.

I can't believe they did all four movies. Each one takes about 3 hours to finish, so they aren't long, but that's a lot of frame by frame copying of the original films.
