Third Playthrough of Fable II

I finished my second playthrough of Fable II today and started a third. I am nearly done with the game. All but three achievements are gotten. Those last three require online trading and I don't see that happening.

My second playthrough was with a character I played as good as I could. I was initially going for the Love ending where you save your family, but right before the encounter with Lucien, my wife divorced me and I had no family to save. So I went with the Sacrifice ending and saved everyone who died building the Spire. This made me the biggest hero and I was very popular when I returned to Bowerstone.

I started a third playthrough, not at all evil. I am basically speed running the game and did as few things as I could to power through to the end. I still had that Chain Attack achievement to get though and that informed my play style for the first half of the campaign. I was building towards the Chain Attack ability and melee fighting at every opportunity for practice. Time was getting short on the day though, so I switched back to my character that chose the Money ending and entered the Colosseum to see if I could get that Chain Attack achievement quickly. I learned online that your sword glows blue when a chain is starting. I watched my sword closely and tried to time my attacks accordingly. I got the achievement very quickly, to my surprise. My timing must've been slightly off all those hours I tried to get it. Plus that blue glow is pretty subtle. I never saw it until I read about it being there. That's kind of strange.

I stopped in my third playthrough just before the first voyage to the Spire, which is about halfway in the campaign. Next time I'll finish the campaign with all speed to get the Love ending. I've been trying to have a marriage in each town but so far I've only gotten engaged in Bowerstone and married once in the Gypsy Camp. I'm trying to get one in each town so I have security that I have a family to save by the end. It's difficult to keep a marriage. If you stay away too long, they divorce you.

I'll be glad to be done with Fable II finally, maybe Monday or Wednesday, next week. I thoroughly enjoyed it but the backlog is growing.

I do say you get the most out of your games. You're almost finished with your third playthrough and I'm still hovering around the first game. Are the online features still running for this game? It would be cool if you and your friend could trade with each other and grab that achievement.

Yea, you can still trade with friends. Their orbs still appear in the game. I changed the setting so that anyone's orb can appear. The other day a whole bunch of randos were in there and I quickly asked them all for a chicken suit. None had one, darn it.

You can still play co-op too. It's not true co-op though. The guest has to play a generic character and has limited interaction with the host's game world. But it's useful if Mark wants to observe me getting an achievement. If you observe an achievement, you get it too. Most of them, anyway.

All your playthrough are making me wish I could play it again. I played through completely I think 1 time. I never had a family successfully on there myself. I did have 1 on Fable 3 though. Do you plan to do a evil playthrough? I never got around to it but I did want to.

Well, my first playthrough ended up evil, but I didn't really try to do it. The achievements made me do it. That's how a rationalize it.

I was going to go super evil in my third playthrough, but the more I thought about it, the more I didn't want to do it. I just don't feel comfortable depopulating all of Albion like I was planning. I out eviled myself. I've been trying to get Mark to do it though, just for laughs. I don't think he wants to though. Although, I seem to remember him doing that when we first played it back in '09 or whenever. Ha!

I feel the game wants me to have a family in each town. When you settle down, you gain renown and the town trusts you more. They don't know about the other towns, and your other wives. Mark had multiple wives in the same town. The wives complained some, but as long as you don't flirt with any of them in each other's presence, they settle for peaceful coexistence.

In my terrible achievement run to gain 25 hookups, I would flirt with anyone while the wife/husband was there. The wife/husband would go all crazy on me and run from the room. It was funny.

There is a junkyard puzzle where you have to find stuff for Chloe's getaway truck.

When you play on another save file, that puzzle is solved because you solved in on another save file. And it won't let you progress past that, because the game still wants you to find everything for the truck ... which is already in the truck, so you can't "find" it again.

Ug. That's annoying.
