Some Burnout

Not the game series, but serious gaming burnout. I must've played a dozen games and quit them one after another about an hour in. Each one annoyed me in a different way, but mostly because I'm kind of stressed out right now with various deadlines associated with school and my job. I also played a bunch of tower defense. That's always something I go to when I can't get into anything else. I'll list the titles.
Defence Grid 2 |
Deadly Premonition |
Deepfall Adventures |
TrackMania Turbo |
Black |
Bayonetta |
Minecraft |
Oxenfree |
Crystal Defenders |
Defence Grid |
Bloodrayne 2 |
Medal of Honor Airborn |
Rayman 3 HD |
Gwent |
Defense Grid 2 is a great tower defense game. I tried to get another gold medal on a map. Didn't get it.
I had to quit Deadly Premotion because the combat system just drove me crazy after a while. Just too slow and ponderous.
Deepfall Adventures is an old FPS in the Indiana Jones style. It isn't bad but the puzzles were less than fair. Something I really can't deal with when I'm stressed out.
Trackmania Turbo was just boring. I wanted to play against real drivers but I had to sign up for Uplay first. No way.
Black is great. I played on Hard and ran around with a shotgun like a lunatic. I got killed several times on the first area but it was fun. Feels so old school now. I'd rather play the new Doom or Wolfenstein.
Bayonetta. Not into relearning the combat moves. Love the visuals though.
Minecraft. Wanted to join Realms to play with randos but it seemed like you needed to invite friends or have friends to invite you to play it. I'm out of luck there. Kind of lonely by oneself.
Oxenfree. Went to an area where every door was locked. Started wandering around and then said to myself, why am I wasting my time with this? Done.
Crystal Defenders. Another tower defense game with Final Fantasy Tactics characters. I just do funny things and lose like use only archers. I just like the patterns created. It sucks there's such a narrow window for getting very far. It's more like a puzzle than a strategy game.
Defence Grid 1. So wanted to get gold on this one map but no matter what I did I came up short. So annoying! There's just a specific setup that gets you that gold. It's not fair. There should be many ways to get it, not one.
Bloodrayne 2 seemed like it was going to be great. I was draining punks of their blood and then executing them, slicing them up with my arm swords, and breaking every last thing in every room. Very satisfying, and sexy, until I got to the first miniboss and got my ass handed to me over and over. Blocks seemed to not work at all, same with my harpoon. Totally frustrated me. I was out.
Medal of Honor Airborne. I did well landing in a parachute but had trouble staying alive with those shaky WWII style guns. So much recoil on those things. Can hardly aim at all. It was fun, but on normal those Germans were taking way too many bullets. How many bullets can one head take? Should be only one.
Rayman 3 HD almost got a hold of me until I had to race to this doorway before my special suit wore out. Over and over again, I got close but couldn't make it. How many times am I going to beat my head against the wall? Maybe three or four times. Not quite unconscious but definetly dizzy and definitely with a mild concussion. No more.
Gwent is cool twist (or ripoff, you decide) of Magic The Gathering. It's very complex though and I couldn't deal with it past the tutorial and one mission.
Well, that was a big bunch off my backlog. I've got plenty more and I'm looking at picking up Horizon Zero Dawn tomorrw with my trade-ins because it's only $20 right now. Yes! Finally something for my PS4.
