I really liked The Force Awakens, and I'm hoping to go see The Last Jedi either Tuesday or Wednesday. I like mid-week matinees, fewer screaming children.
I haven't played any of those games. Watchdogs sounds kind of fun, though.

Saw Star Wars The Last Jedi today with Mark and then went back to gaming and played the Evil Within 2 trial and Watchdogs, which I got for free some time ago on Xbox Games with Gold.
The Star Wars film was just ok. I feel like it is drifting farther and farther from the formula of the original movies and that the next one will be something wholly different. But it could still be interesting, I suppose. I'm still not on board with the new lead characters. They're just not that unique or engaging to me. I'll probably still watch them when they come out though. Can't take the Star Wars out of the nerd, no matter what is done to it.
I played the Evil Within 2 trial almost to the end, but not quite. I was really liking it until I had to fight off a lot of those zombie-like people. I felt really powerless to stop them. I had so little ammo and melee doesn't do much unless you get the jump on them and sometime they get the jump on you. Better get a headshot or your done for. I refused to lower the difficulty from the default though. That over the shoulder view is kind of annoying when you are exploring and trying to look to the left when behind cover. I was always trying to see around my own back. Why couldn't they tighten it up a little bit like it is in Gears of War and give you a quick first person look when you need it. Anyway, it was pretty fun. I'm tempted to go back to it and try to get a handle on the combat again.
Then I started Watchdogs, which has been sitting on my hard drive for a while now. This is a really cool game. Huge open world city and you can hack things on the fly to help you do all sorts of things. I ended up doing this side mission where you get music from this guy on the street that takes you to an altered reality. It's definitely a drug reference. I chose the psychedelic one and spent a long time bouncing from flower to flower throughout the enormous city. I got kind of obsessed with doing all of them and they seeemed endless. Time ran out and I stopped, but I'll be returning to the game for sure.
I've noticed that I've really improved in my patience in gaming. I really work through things now instead of getting too frustrated and stopping. I think it's a good sign.
I've grown to like the crowds in movies, when I can get those showings. I'm almost always forced to go to matinees either because of my schedule or because friends like it that way. I kind of like crowd reaction the few times I've experienced it.
I was thinking of your Sleeping Dogs when I was playing it. It has an open world city where you can do a lot of things. They're probably both in third person. And maybe that's all that's similar, really.
I saw the new Star Wars movie with my family today. Here is my take on the new Star Wars. Spoiler free, of course. The movie was fun with lots of action. Some parts were hokey, but that's what Star Wars has always been. I liked that they put a bit of humor in places, too. It's a good thing I didn't see this movie as a kid, because all the new spaceships and critters would've made cool toys that I would've wanted like when I was little. And many of the scenes in the movie would make for a good LEGO Star Wars game, which I'm sure they're working on right now. Also, Kyro Ren ate his spinach.
I heard some funny gasps, maybe incredulous or mocking, from the audience when that scene with Kylo happened. Not sure what people were giggling about. Maybe weird seeing a ripped successor to Darth Vader who we never saw anything but a scared skull from. But that's the thing about this Star Wars movie. In little ways they were subverting the traditional formula of Star Wars. I hope they go to a totally new place in the next one. That would be refreshing.
I thought this Star Wars was much better than the last one. Pretty boring for the first half, but almost amazing in the second half. I hope the next film is something completely different, the worst parts of these new movies is how much they've been copying the original trilogy.
I agree. This one was supposed to copy Empire Strikes Back but I didn't notice a lot of obvious references like I did with Force Awakens. And I think they will do something different. All during Last Jedi I was noticing how they were shucking off a lot of Star Wars traditions.
