Pinball Arcade

I went to my local arcade tonight after work for an hour. It's called Pinball Arcade and it has pinball games and video games. I couldn't stay very long though because my back was killing me. It was a long day and when I'm tired my back on my upper right side starts screaming at me. Aside from being tired from work was that I had hardely eaten anything from about 8am until 5pm. I was fine until about 4 and then I started to fade. I got something to eat after work but I still wasn't right when I got to the arcade. So it kind of got in my way of enjoying it more.

I played a bunch of pinball games but I tried to focus on the older ones since that fit my theme year of 1978 for this month. Stuff like Black Knight, Black Hole and Firepower. I really wanted to play Gorgar but they didn't have it except on a digital table and that's just not the same. Then I gave up with '70s pinball and just started playing anything. Bride of Pinbot was super cool and so was Addams Family.

I also played a bunch of Space Invaders on both an upright cabinet and a cocktail table. This game is ok but doesn't really hold my attention anymore. Man was it huge in '78 though. Then I played 1943: Battle of Midway and its newer versions. I always like those shmups.

Well, no gaming for me for a few days as I have to work and do other things. Maybe on Tuesday though. It's going to be an interesting week leading into Christmas. I'm excited to have very little to do that week; although, I'll probably come up with some things I need to do anyway.

I have carpal tunnel issues and can't play pinball like I used to. We had Pinbot at college. I used to pump a lot of quarters into that game. The other one I played a lot was Bram Stoker's Dracula. It was a rare day when my name wasnt one of the top five players.

I was trying to trap the ball on a flipper and control my shots. I got it going on a few of the machines but I never got any kind of great score. I tried to slow down because I tend to just wack away and that always ends up badly. My frickin' back on the right side was really distracting me though. I couldn't sit long enough with a game to learn its rules. I'm thinking I'll go back there once a month for a while. Maybe I'll learn something.

Pinball is a very physical game, so you really have to be feeling OK in order to do well.

Have you ever played Cirque Voltaire?  That's my favorite pinball machine.  1943 is still one of my favorite shooters, even to this day.

I think I saw that one. Next time I'll play it for sure.
