I only vaguely remember the Cars playset in Disney Infinity. I think it was fine, but not too memorable. I got some of the figures, but not all. Here are what I have.
Tow Mater, Francesco Bernoulli, Lightning McQueen
My first favorite was formula 1 racer Francesco Bernoulli, then Tow Mater. I kind of ended up with Lightning McQueen almost by accident. There's one more I don't have, Holley Shiftwell.
I wasn't thrilled with the movie Cars. I actually didn't finish watching it I disliked that much. I found it too glib and trite. Totally not what I expect from Pixar. Of course, I believe it was made when they were acquired by Disney; although it seems like Pixar had control over the direction of Cars. I still don't like it. I wish I did, cause it's a great idea.
I didn't think the first Cars movie was that bad, but the second one is one of my least favorite Pixar films. Only ones I dislike more are Monsters University and The Good Dinosaur.
I was at a store called Five and Below the other day and they had TONS of Skylanders figures and it made me think of you.
I really wanted to like Cars, but I just didn't like the characters. It seemed aimed way younger than other Pixar films to me.
Oh man, I'm going to have to check there today. I don't need to spend right now but if they are a buck or something, and it's something I don't have, I'll have to get some.
I'm not really into Cars either. A stumble for Pixar. On the other hand, I know kids who love those movies. Weird.
Exactly, I think it was just aimed a little younger than other movies of theirs. Other movies of theirs have a nice balance of stuff for all ages. Still, I always associated Cars with the announcement of relations with Disney and I always blamed Disney for watering down Pixar into pure kid safe stuff. But then Ratatouie came out after Cars and was good, so I don't know.
You know I've never seen any of the Cars movies, but I do like the games. The purple car I believe is a little faster but I didn't really use him as much unless part of the story said I needed to, for chests or races. I usually stuck with the red car.
I wanted that Formula One car right away. I have a thing for Formula One. I always want to play those games too, but they are so sim oriented. I just want to drive a F1 car around like a souped up go-kart.
I have nothing to add to this conversation - I've neither seen any Cars movies, nor played Disney Infinity.
I'm just weirdly hooked on the technology that transfers the figures to the game. I know it's just a chip in there, but my primitive brain says, "magic".
Isn't that what computers and the internet are?
Yea but this is like the way Flynn got sent into Tron's computer world - real world object appears in virtual world. Cool. (I know it doesn't work that way really).
