I reviewed the Back to the Future TellTale game. This was back when TellTale was actually making games, not follow your nose adventures. Back to the Future was one of their last games like that, before they started using the Walking Dead formula. The game is also the closest thing we'll get to a Back to the Future 4. It's an all right game, but it starts better than it finishes. I think the Sam & Max, Wallace & Gromit, and Tales of Monkey Island games are better.
Drunken Master, Back to the Future: The Game

I watched Jackie Chan's 1978 movie Drunken Master and played new Games with Gold freebie, Telltale's Back to the Future: The Game.
The Drunken Master is a classic. Jackie Chan's ability to mix humor and martial arts is unmatched. A thoroughly enjoyable film. Jackie did another one called the Legend of the Drunken Master in 1994, which I saw in the theater, and was completely enthusiastic about. It was a rollercoaster ride of increbible, and funny, choreography - Buster Keaton meets Bruce Lee.
Then I downloaded Back to the Future: The Game for free on Xbox One and played the first chapter. Telltale does great stories but the controls always infuriate, or bore, me. It's like they took the mechanics of a not very good 1993 point-and-click adventure and stuck it on a great animated tv show. Many times I couldn't see where I could click because nothing is highlighted. You have to sweep your right analog stick around blindly to uncover clickable things. Really annoying. Also, movement is highly restrictive and slow. Finally there is precious little to actually explore or look at. You mostly watch, click dialog choices (thankfully no time limits in this one), and guess what things might be clickable. Well, with that, I still enjoyed it. I finished the first chapter and will be going through the rest of it.
I wouldn't have been playing this if it wasn't free though. I'm not the biggest Back to the Future fan even though I was a teenager when it came out and saw it in the theaters. I never quite understood the raving fandom for the movie. It's alright, I still enjoy it.
That was yesterday. More today perhaps. Once chores are done of course.
