I’ve been keeping track all year long in Excel. In total, I played 105 games for 1454 hours. That’s 4 hours a day on average; only, I don’t play every day, just on my days off from work or school. Here’s my top ten most played, all on Xbox One.

Minecraft

425 hours

Borderlands 2

103.5

Fable II

90.5

Borderlands

72.5

Forza Horizon

51

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition

44.5

Civilization Revolution

41.5

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean

40

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

37

Zoo Tycoon

36.5

Honorable mentions, played more than 20 hours:

Forza Horizon 2
Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition
Halo Master Chief Collection
Earth Defense Force 2017

I took stats on other media as well. I read 19 books (way down from last year’s 74 because of my unstable work situation), saw 27 movies or TV shows, and added about 20 vinyl records to my computer’s digital library.

I wonder how much I've sunk into each game I own ...

Some of them log hours spent, which is helpful, but I just record it at the end of the day if I play anything.

Yeah, I don't think Hellblade logs hours. I think I played it a bit more than the supposed 7 hour average, but sometimes I'm amazed how FEW hours I'll pump into a game that felt longer to me, so who knows?

The TellTale games I've played seem really long to me probably because I'm mostly just watching them, and that's kind of boring, relatively speaking. But each episode of Tales from the Borderlands was about 2 hours and Back to the Future about 3 hours each.

Hellblade is thankfully a lot more involved than Telltale. It's narrative-driven, but it still gets everything across while you're actually playing it.

Yea, there's precious little to do in TellTale games.

425 hours in Minecraft...that just blows my mind. But that's also one reason it has stayed so relevant. You're never really done with it. So did you play exclusively on Xbox One in 2017 or was anything else a negligible amount of time spent?

I was just noticing a bunch of Minecraft books in the library last weekend. Stories, guides, programing books, it's still massive.

My top 3DS game was Etrian Odyessy V at 13 hours.Top PS4 game was Persona 5 at 8.5 hours. I even recorded a few hours in arcades too. It was overwelmingly Xbox One though. That's what my friend Mark plays, so I tend to do the same. I hope to do more on PS4 this year though and try and squeeze some Vita in too. I really want a Switch but until I start working full time again, it's just not going to happen.

I don't think I've put 425 hours in to a single game total, let alone in a single year.

This is probably my first; although, I probably played Halo: CE that much back in the day. Mark and I would play it together every weekend, like we do sometimes with Minecraft.

Someone on IGN's Podcast Unlocked mentioned that he'd put in over a thousand hours into Destiny 2 this year. That's like me not playing anything else all year long. I can't imagine doing that.

I think you need to shoot for 500 hours in Minecraft. I don't want to know how many hours I sunk into NCAA Football 14.

I think I topped 500 hours in Halo C.E. back in the early 2000s. It was over three years though. Probably around 250 a year.

Man. I don't think I've ever sunk as much time into a game in one year as you have with Minecraft - with the exception of Guild Wars 2. Not judging though as I'm super ADHD with games and probably have just as many hours clocked in the games I've played combined xD

i keep hearing other people putting in a thousand hours into one game, mostly MMOs. I guess if that's all you played all year, it makes sense.
