On a bit of a tare now that I've decided to build a permanent gaming library. I figure it will ultimately control my spending, but right now it's looking ugly, and I should slow down. But, I've made a limited list of must-have games for the permanent library and when those are done, I can rest easy and just enjoy renting anything else I'm interested in. So, what did I buy the last few days? Here's a list:
Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD (Wii-U)
Killzone Shadowfall (PS4)
Project S.T.E.A.M. (3DS)
Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition (XBO)
Killzone Trilogy (PS3)
God of War Saga (PS3)
Ni No Kuni (PS3)
Ratchet & Clank Collection (PS3)
Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus (PS3)
God of War Ascension (PS3)
Okami HD (XBO)
Bloodborne (PS4)
Odin' Sphere Leifhrasir (PS4)
There are about 30 games left including Ni No Kuni II coming up. I'm pretty much sticking to what is under $20 though. Anything over that, I'll wait unless it's something I think won't come down over time like most JRPGs and Nintendo games. I'm doing my best to keep the cost to a minimum though. One day, when I have decent money, I'll pick up some consoles I don't have like Wii-U and Switch. And maybe upgrade my PS4 and XBO. One day.
I learned something today. Dragon's Crown is coming to PS4 in May. It's called Dragon's Crown Pro and I am definitely putting it on my rental list. Then I'll buy it when its price gets reasonable. Probably 6 months to a year later. But it might be bargain priced anyway at $40. It should be $20 after 6 months.
My actual gaming today comprised some Game & Watch Gallery, Pinball FX3, Minecraft and Odin's Sphere Leifhrasir.
Game & Watch Gallery: I downloaded this from the 3DS e-shop to try out in my 1981 retro gaming. I never played those tiny handhelds back then. I didn't even know they existed. The 3DS collection provides the original experience and an upgraded one, usually with Mario Bros. Characters. I'm finding the games pretty darn good. Very simple but fun. I've played Manhole, where you have to provide platforms for characters to walk on over holes; Fire where characters jump from a burning building and you have to bounce them into an ambulance; and Octopus where you dive for treasure and avoid the octopus' tentacles. I haven't played Oil Panic yet or any of the 16 other unlockable games.
Pinball FX3: I couldn't beat any of Rangergirl's scores on the Thor table but beat some of my own. I did make some progress on the Ghost Rider table though, beating several of her scores. Then I switched over to XBO and played my tables there, challenging Mark on tables like Sorcerer's Lair, Empire Strikes Back and Deadpool. He beat some of mine and I beat some of his. He's really good on Sorcerer's Lair though.
Minecraft: Practiced my new strategy playing in Mark's world. I began the game growing wheat to make bread and then built a corral for any animals I might find. Then I built a small house and a shack for the mineshaft. I never did get enough animals to really start the breeding process for food. I had 2 sheep, one pig and one cow after all that. There's just not many animal spawns anymore. Well, I ended my session falling through a hole into lava in the Nether. Typical.
Odin's Sphere Leifhrasir: This is why I have a PS4. This game is so achingly beautiful. I've been using more special attacks and potions to keep from mashing buttons and giving myself tendonitis. It's great though because the effects from specials and potions make for eye-popping fireworks on screen. One special move creates a storm cloud that travels around shooting lightning. It looks fantastic! I'm chugging along in the Pooka Prince story.
Well, that's a lot for one day. Onto the next in this Spring Break that I find myself a part of.
