That lady on the right with the big gun looks really cool.
Letter Quest and Agents of Mayhem

I didn't buy anything on the Spring Sale today. Most of the games I wanted were stuff I'd like to have as physical copies, so even though they were at bargain bin prices, I'll wait to get hard copies later. I looked at the trailer to Thimbleweed Park hoping it was like The Cave, made by some of the same people, but it is a straight up point-and-click adventure. That's cool, but not my bread-and-butter. The puzzle/platformer that was The Cave was more my interest.
I played Letter Quest while Mark downloaded and started Agents of Mayhem, which he bought on the Spirng sale for $12. I was thinking I had to let him catch up to me so we could play co-op, but there isn't actual co-op in the game. There's some stat mining you can collaborate on, but no playing within each other's game. So I started my game where I was already a couple hours deep. I had to relearn all the controls and was again overwelmed by all the modifications you can make to your character's gear and stats. I finally got a handle on it though.
Agents of Mayhem is like Crackdown on steroids, although, don't get me wrong, this is not Crackdown 3. Cut-scenes are in anime style and the world is rendered in a kind of cell-shaded style. So its production is a step below triple-A quality, but there is plenty of depth and complexity in this game and a ton of hilarious voice work. This may be the puniest game ever, and not just with words, visuals too. Everything is a take, or spoof, on everything else it seems. Take a look at the team I was using today. I dressed one in faux Iron Man style and another like Wonder Woman. I'm trying for a third comic book character outfit but I haven't found the right suit for her yet.
There's lots to do in this game, just like Crackdown but even more. Your base can be upgraded and you can send out unused characters to explore the larger world and bring back intel or special battle rooms to conquer. You can also upgrade all your characters, add tech items to beef their stats, building them to your precise plans. There are a lot of characters, at least 12, all with different styles and special attacks. Then there are the vehicles. I unlocked my favorite so far today, check it out.
It sort of looks like a Camero or a Dodge Stealth muscle car. When I upgraded my turbo boost on the thing, I was in heaven. This thing is fast.
Well, I'll be back at it tomorrow. All real world work is done, so I'll play some more.
