I prefer the arcade ports of Golden Axe to the Genesis ones. Golden Axe 2 is ok, I remember feeling meh about it when it came out on Genesis. Definitely not as hype as when Golden Axe first came out. As far as I'm concerned, the real Golden Axe sequel is Revenge of Death Adder and is the best game in the series imo. GA3 is a p.o.s.

Played a lot of retro stuff on Xbox One today, and one new release. Kind of a lot so here's a list.
Golden Axe: Side scrolling fantasy brawler. I always liked it but sometimes it can get very frustrating. I noticed that the XBO version has Golden Axe II and III as well. I only played the original arcade game though. I figured out from all my continues in my first play, that it would've cost me $6.50 back in the day. It's pay-to-win. That's what the arcade was. We complain about it on phones, but it's actually the way it used to be. I don't like it in either decade. But, I watched an expert playthrough within the game, which is a cool feature, and you can beat the whole game with no continues and only minimal damage, if you take advantage of the environment and know exactly where to stand to get in hits before they hit you. So I was happy about that. I wasn't going to spend so much time mastering it though. I got through it and executed all the maximum magic you can unleash with each character. I played it through Game Pass but I should buy it since it has all the Genesis versions of I-III.
Streets of Rage: Was free this month. This one I didn't finish because I'm not as interested in its art style. Still good though and the Sega Vintage version has the first three Streets of Rage Genesis games.
SuperMega Baseball 2: Even better than the first one with customizable teams and players. You can play online too. I played against random folks for a half dozen games and it was fun. I like playing real players. Way more interesting than the AI which tends to play the same every single game. Pitching and hitting is more nuonced than you would expect from the cartoon look of the characters. Really easy to learn, yet complex enough to make you think about ball speed, pitch selection, and type of swing. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how Mark and I could play together. The game says you can but I don't see how to do it. Maybe I'll look it up.
Double Dragon Neon. Remake of the original by Wayforward. Really cool. Better control, better looking characters. I couldn't get my special move to work though. Possibly I didn't get far enough in the game to unlock it. Thus I got stuck on a boss. Very cool though.
Dig Dug. Game Pass has it's own "quest" where you can get entered in a giveaway for $500 of Xbox Live money. The goal was to download 3 games, so I chose Dig Dug as one and played it. I tried to clear the entire screen of earth for an achievment but that is hard. Fun though.
Banjo and Kazooie: Don't know why, but I tried this while Rare Replay was still in the drive. Controls really well and there are a lot of moves ol' Banjo and Kazooie can do. I cleared a world and opened a new one before I had to stop for the day. Think I might continue with it some more next time.
Well, that's a list. Maybe I'll find Ni No Kuni II or God of War in the library soon so I can rent them.
