Rise From Your Tomb

I'm still playing Rise of the Tomb Raider. I died a new way: spikes. Sometimes there be pits with spikes. I didn't let that Bobcat get me though, or was it some kind of tiger? I don't know but I'm probably near the end of the story.

I discovered the cards you can buy. They are for Exploration mode, which I haven't done yet. I think they give you challenges.

I got through many battles with gun toting fanatics. It's heresy to me, but I had to stealth-kill my way through them. No run-and-gun here. I tried and it's no go. My best moment was gassing two guys with a poison arrow and then boobytrapping their bodies with more poison. Then I used a bottle to distract a few other guys over to the bodies. Cough, choke! Nearly got them all that way.

Later, I realized I could craft grenade arrows on the fly. I upgraded them too and used them to blast my way through some rooms full of enemies. Now that's more my style.

I'm enjoying the environmental puzzles just fine too. Lots of shooting rope arrows to move things with in this late part of the game. It's fun.

The only Tomb Raider game I liked was Lara Croft GO, because it was a old school style puzzle game.

I heard that was really good. I just can't get myself to download a game on my phone. Now I have an unlimited plan though, so maybe. It's just such a utilitarian device for me right now. I feel like I'm poluting it. One day when I'm waiting for a plane or something, I'll do it.

Did you play the 2013 Tomb Raider before Rise? I love these games.

No but I was always interested, which is why I downloaded Rise from Game Pass. Now that I'm hooked I want to play it right away. Also, I just read Crystal Dynamics has been doing Tomb Raider games exclusively since 2006. I've played a few of their previous games too like Project Snowblind.

Also, while I usually don't have patience for stealth, I always felt you could take guards out at a decent enough clip without really having to stay in one spot for long that it never really bothered me. I also love how easily I can make headshots in the series.

I found it quite satisfying, once I got over my usual bloodlust for run-and-gun, to take out the guards above with silent arrows and lure the rest into poison clouds. Then loot them all. Ha ha. I noticed she can't loot the dead good guys. I guess the Geneva Convention only covers friendlies?

I don't think I tried that cards feature for the game.

I read Cary mentioned Go, and Go is really fun because it's all puzzles. If you don't want to play it on the phone, it's a couple of bucks on Steam. I like playing it on Steam over my phone.

One day I'll set up my PC for Steam play. So want to do that but not until I'm fully employed.
