Game Pass Quickies

I dithered around with Game Pass games today while downloading the new Games with Gold freebies: Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia and Sonic's All-Star Racing: Transformers. Notes follow.

Pac-Man Museum: I played a few rounds of every game in this collection. The only ones I didn't see were Ms. Pac-Man (DLC) and Baby Pac-Man. My favorite was Pac-Man Championship Edition. It's so great. I love the speed of it and the way the mazes change during gameplay in certain modes. Also, it lets you eat a lot of ghosts and fruit, and who doesn't like to do that; that is, if the ghosts are marshmallows.

Dirt Rally: I like Rally racing games so I gave it a whirl. It's a very simulation style racer but I got the hang of it after a while and didn't crash. Your car gets damaged and you can fix it in between races as long as it doesn't take up more than the time allowed. The graphics are really gorgeous and realistic and the cars handle very realisticly too. Maybe too much. I'd rather play Forza Horizon when it comes right down to it.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition: I was getting hooked on this game and will probably continue with it next time I play. It was always compared to a Zelda style game, but I liken it to God of War. You battle constantly with a giant sword. The story is pretty cool too and very over-the-top in an almost anime way. It reminded me of Asura's Wrath a bit without the QTEs. Very cool and the Warmastered Edition looks and plays great. I have the second one from a freebie giveaway a long time ago, so maybe I'll play both of them. Oh yea.

I really enjoyed the ACC game,I preordered it for the Vita. I love the side scrolling and art style.

Pacman games are always decent. Its Pacman not much could go wrong.

I must have every Chronicles game now through Games with Gold freebies. There's Russia, China, India, maybe another, I forget. I usually like them at first but then they make me sneak around and I get annoyed. I'm going to try Russia though. We'll see.

Some of those Pac-Man games on that collection weren't that great. The ones that went 3D with it, for instance.

I enjoyed all three of the ACC stories. As for Pac-man I said not much could go wrong,lol.

You won't find games like Baby Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man on the Pac-Man collection, because they were published by Midway and Namco doesn't like to acknowledge the Midway Pac-Man games. They only do so with Ms. Pac-Man because it makes money.

Pac-Man Championship Edition is one of my top favorite Pac-Man games.

Yea, CE is frickin' awesome. I can't believe how they managed to update it without changing it much. What a perfect way to treat Pac-Man. A lesson to be learned for every developer bringing back an old chestnut like that.

To me too but then "stealth". It gets me every time. Just. . . don't. . . want. . . to sneak around! Ahhh!

I wish Dirt Rally worked well on the PC. I really wanted to play it. I like the side scroller Assassin's Creed games. I played a little bit of Russia and I need to go back. I think China is the one that is broken on Origin and won't load the second level. I might just break down and buy it for the PS4.

I always want to like those AC side-scrollers but then they make me do stealth and I balk. I just don't have the patience for stealth.

There's a VR version of dirt for the PS4. I haven't bought it yet. I did play Driveclub VR and, while flawed, it was still an incredible experience in VR. I heard Dirt is MUCH better. Just haven't gotten to it yet.

VR car driving scares me so much. To think how it might affect my real driving is scary to me.

Dirt Rally is freaking hard, but I got some solid enjoyment out of it. Once you get in the zone, it's amazing.

Darksiders has the combat of god of war, but the dungeons, puzzles, and progression of Zelda, which is where the comparisons are coming in. Although it's almost like a greatest hits of popular mechanics from the time, especially noticable with a late game item.

The feel of the cars is very realistic. Mistakes are punished. Eventually I realized that driving a little faster was better than being too careful. Something about the controls I think.

Darksiders is still sitting in my vitual game library. Darn Game Pass is distracting me constantly.
