I was in the mood for small games today so played a few of them.

Trivial Pursuit Live: Mark and I in there with random people again trying to get to 25 wins. We played someone who had over 900 wins and was number 3 on the leaderboards. I won one of the two matches we played. I think I have 13 wins now. Who plays this game to 900 wins? That's like an incredible amount of gameplay for this. I would think she, or he, would know every single answer by now. I've noticed questions repeating and I've only got a dozen wins.

Abzu: I beat this game in every conceivable way, as Voltron might say. I got the last achievement hunting down all those nautilus shells. I must've played the game about 3 times through. It's short, like 2 hours long. But I was grinning the whole time like an idiot because it was so beautiful and full of fanscinating sea creatures, both modern and ancient.

Hue: An interesting indie puzzle/platformer. The world is in black and white until you find colors and then can use them to color the world at will in order to solve puzzles and navigate the 2D world. The colors make things appear or disappear. You use a section wheel while moving around to quickly switch colors. I got stuck on a long sequence of platforms of different colors I had to navigate. You have to jump, open the selection wheel, pick a color which the game goes into slo-mo and then return to normal speed. Do this a dozen times or more and it gets pretty tricky. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Hydro Thunder: Free from Games with Gold. This was a port, I believe, of a Sega arcade game to Xbox 360. It's a speed boat racer and it's pretty darn good. The over-the-top attitude of the game is going to go nicely with the Sega Marine Fishing I'm going to play tomorrow on Dreamcast. I only played a handful of races in Hydro Thunder today. I'll return to it tomorrow for sure.

Over and out.

Hydro Thunder was originally an arcade game by Midway.  I prefer Arctic Thunder.  It was a sequel racer on snowmobiles.  I liked it because the arcade cabinet blew cold air on you.  Nice on hot days.

I reviewed Hue a while back.  Fun little puzzle game.

Ha, yea the cold air. I never did play any of the Thunder games in the arcade. Maybe by the time I noticed them I felt too old to jump on those fake snowmobiles.

Hue was neat until I had to jump all these platforms and change the color as I jumped. It was fine for three or four of them, but a whole room of them was frustrating as heck.

I loved those Hydro Thunder arcade cabinets with the jet ski seats. As Cary said, Arctic Thunder had that nice breeze as well.

Only felt like beating Abzu once, but I liked the music.

Oh yea, those cabinets. They are always several of them together in an arcade.

Abzu made me think of Endless Ocean for the Wii. I liked those games. No photography in Abzu though.
