I can watch Game Grumps videos of Epic Yarn to lull me to sleep. It's so tranquil.
Kirby X Lego X Banner Saga X Quantum Break

How about that for a game. I wonder what that would look like? A lego yarny’s turn-based battle against a corporate time-lord. Seems like a good idea actually.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn (Wii):
Wow what a beautiful game. Everything in the game is done with colors and textures found in fabrics. It’s two dimensional but in many places you can go under the surface as if there were layers of fabric.
The creativity in the game is amazing. The details in the backgrounds are so delightful to look at. Kirby himself can change into a car, travel as a single string of yarn through narrow passageways or open a parachute. In certain areas you get totally transformed into a surfer, or a tank, or an off road vehicle. All of these things are done in the shapes that yarn would make. And, this was just in the first two areas of the game. What more awaits?
You have your own apartment and can decorate it with furniture or patterns that you find. I did mine in arabian style with a camel sofa and pillow, magic carpet, torches, and (not related) tartan wallpaper and spotted egg printed carpet. Oh and a frog mirror.
There isn’t any motion controls so far. You just use the Wiimote sideways. I like that.
I wish I could see this game in full HD, or in some sort of remastered state. It’s beautiful as is, but how much more it could look, I’d like to see. I also wish I could get achievements or trophies.
This one’s staying in my collection for sure. I'll come back to it for a completionist run sometime in the future. I just wanted to establish that it was good enough for the library, and it sure is.
Lego Star Wars III: Clone Wars (XBO download):
I got back to this and found six chapter story after six chapter story. It seems this game isn’t short at all. I stopped at a battle against a giant monster where I couldn’t figure out how to make a tank in my bases. Turns out there are some rules they don’t tell you about. You have to build one cannon in each base before the tanks open up. I wish they would tell me these things. I quit in frustration. Then I looked it up, went back into the game and realized I had lost some progress and had to fight the RTS style battle just before the battle with the giant monster all over again. I was not happy to do so and took a break.
Banner Saga (XBO download):
I reinstalled this to try it again and get to the very end this time. I noticed you can’t get “renown” from training in this first installment in the series. I was hoping I could rack up some renown points that way, but no.
I am going to load up my favorite character with upgrades and see if that works. I already had my first favorite character taken away from me though. You can’t count on many characters being around consistently except for Rook and Alette. So I’m favoring Alette right now. She has the “thread the needle” ability with her bow. I like that because you can hit multiple enemies if they are lined up right. I’m going to see how deadly I can make her.
Well, that’s a day. Mark was playing Quantum Break obsessively and we never did watch any Clone Wars episodes over lunch. I’ve been watching him play that. It’s a hyper realistic third-person shooter by, I think, the makers of Alan Wake. There are multiple paths to the story and your character can alter time to help him beat hoards of armed guards. The story is something about a corporate jerk trying to take the invention of a poor innocent scientist to take over the world. The usual thing. But it looks pretty good. I may download it because it’s on Game Pass.
Toodles.
