Man I should be a Nintendo or Good Feel sales rep considering how many of their games I've talked you into getting lately. :)
I miss Twisted Pixel.

I bought Wario Land: Shake It! today and downloaded two free Games with Gold titles: Livelock and Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World. I set up my PS3. And I started to catch up on the achievements leaderboard by playing a lot of short games downloaded from Game Pass.
$8 at Gamestop with my membership discount.
I almost bought WarioWare Smooth Moves too but it was $14 and my impulse buy is set at $10 now. It used to be $20, but I'm still barely working, so it's less. Oh, and I also want Tank! Tank! Tank! but it was also $14. I may go for it tomorrow though. I found a store with it complete. I don't buy loose discs anymore. I had to go a little far afield to get Wario Land today. It was worth it though.
I set up my PS3 and it works fine. I loaded up Last of Us but it needed an update so I switched to XBO and got lost there chasing achievements the rest of the evening.
I tried to return to my save on the demo for Forza Horizon 4, but it doesn't seem to keep a save in the demo version. Darn. Then I tried some stuff new to me I downloaded from Game Pass.
Kyub is a puzzle game where you move a cube around environments. I got stuck on level 9 so I moved on. Got a couple acheivements along the way.
Ms. Splosion Man is a plarformer with the main mechanic being you can explode yourself to jump and affect the environment. Graphically it reminded me of The Maw, another Twisted Pixel game. Totally different gameplay though. Anyway, I got stuck on a boss robot that chases you along a platform. I moved on. A few achievements were got.
Oddworld: New and Tasty is another platformer of more strategy bent, like Lemmings. You move on 2D platforms and solve puzzles and collect fellow workers in order to save them. I forget if this is a remake of the first Oddworld game or not. I think it is. Anyway, it looks fantastic. There's a steam punk vibe to it I think. I got frustrated with jumping a partcular gap and getting slapped in the face with meat chunks. Oh timing, I hate you. Onward. Some achievements got.
Ruiner is a sort of Smash TV style game. Isometric view moving through futuristic metal corridors into rooms where you battle it out with gun toting suits. You can dash in a sort of bullet time way and use an electric shield, guns and melee weapons. It's a very cool game. You are controlled by a helmet on your head that is clearly attached to a computer system somewhere. It tells you to kill the boss and so you fight your way there. I messed up on the fight with the boss' personal guard. I had some trouble assimilating all the skills you can use. They throw them at you pretty fast. So I wasn't quick enough and got my health widdled down. Eh, whatevs, I'm playing permadeath, I told myself, and quit. I'm not totally down with the bleak future cyberpunk distopia this game projects. But it's good. Achievements got. Onward
Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure is clearly based on runner games for phones. You have access to four Pixar universes: Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Rattatouie (can't spell that darn French word). Each had you running through environments and picking up coins. You're scored for time and number of coins. You can play co-op but since I was doing it solo, the game gave me an AI buddy. You can unlock other characters and abilities that allow you to access new areas in the levels. The game is fairly easy and the achievements flow like a rushing rapids, so I stayed with it till the night was over. I'll probably go back to it and try and finish it, although, I don't really want to replay these simple levels too much. There's not a whole lot to do in them. It was a Kinect game for kiddies after all.
Well that's a day.
Oh, I also finished Michael Crichton's Pirate Latitudes. It's a real page turner and tailor made for film or video game treatment. Something about the story was really familiar like I actually played a game or saw a film with the same plot. I'll have to research this.
I played the first 'Sposion Man. I think on Xbox 360 when online and indie games were just becoming a thing. Not a bad game.
I read a shitload of Crichton when I was a teenager. I think the newest book I finished though was RIsing Sun. I read all of his old ones. He was a great writer. Too bad he died so young.
It's not bad at all. I'm just platform game challenged.
I just read up on Crichton. Interesting guy. Not sure if I'll read more of him though. I might read Jurassic Park one day. I kind of want a book a little more deep on ideas, though. It was fun, but I felt a little empty after it.
Gamestop is still my only source of used games. I still like hunting down which store has what. There must be 30 stores in my local area. I just can't stand being attacked by salespeople whenever I go in there. I like to browse even if I have something particular I'm looking for. To have the salesman get if for me in two seconds ruins my fun.
Rush isn't bad at all. You tear through the various worlds and they are fun to look at. They did a good job on the graphics. There are also secret areas in each level that makes you play them again.
