Finally Watched King of Kong: A Fistfull of Quarters
I've avoided watching this every since it came out over a decade ago because I didn't want to view the villany that everyone saw in Billy Mitchell.
Well, I watched it and I feel like Billy represents what is wrong with humanity in general. Winning at all costs is unethical and mean spirited. The pain I saw in eyes of Steve Wiebe's wife after Billy refuses to show up for a challenge near the end of the film says it all to me. The stance Billy takes hurts people and all for personal gain and to protect his elite status in the gaming arena.
I'm just glad Steve Webe persisted and ended up being acknowledged as the high score champion of Donkey Kong as of that time in 2007.
The recent revelations that Billy cheated and subsequently had all his scores taken off of Twin Galaxies web site, only goes to show what kind of person he is. He's a great player but a dishonest one and a bad sportsman. He had his reign but he ultimately got what he deserved.
And now I want to go to Fun Spot more than ever.
