Tank! Aven Colony and Bomber Crew

I set up the Wii-U today and it works fine. I also played some Tank! Tank! Tank!. Then I played Aven Colony on XBO and then Bomber Crew.

The Wii-U I got from GameStop works fine. I had to go through a lengthy setup routine and then forgot my password for my Wii account and so couldn't link them up. But I created a dummy account and played some Tank! Tank! Tank!.

This game is so much like Earth Defence Force, I swear they pulled assets from the series to make this. It plays and looks almost the same. The difference is that it is a little more colorful and you are limited to a pretty small area where you have to survive for a certain length of time or beat a boss before the time runs out. I pretty much loved it. I'm going to play much more of it next week. Right now I just wanted to make sure everything worked.

On XBO, I played a game from Game Pass, Aven Colony. This is a builder/resource management sim. You build a colony on an alien planet, have to manage all the resources required and eventually guard against natural and alien attacks. I got really into it but hit a wall on a mission that wanted me to farm alien plants and the game wouldn't let me do it. The options for harvesting the plants stayed greyed out even though I built every upgrade possible and made sure I built my farms on the fertile squares. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I even looked up on online and couldn't find a solution. So I stopped. Great game though.

Then I returned to another Game Pass game Bomber Crew. I really, really love this game that mixes in arcade style action and strategic moment to moment planning. I started over from scratch in the campaign because I had forgotten all the controls. I hit my 40th mission for an achievement and kept going. I started naming all my crew people I know just for fun, ala X-Com. Um, this first crew all perished in a crash fairly early on, but I resurrected them for another run.

Tomorrow i'm going to try one more time to link accounts on Wii-U and then swap out for Xbox 360 and play some Dust An Elysian Tale.

I never really saw Tank! x3 as a EDF-alike. I always thought of it as a more colorful and cartoony Tokyo Wars.

Right. I saw that comparison on wiki but I've played so much of the EDF series I noticed similar animations right away. Like the way the spiders appear and they way they crawl all over the buildings and the way the buildings get destroyed.

I'm sorry your bomb crew crashed, mostly cause i think you said i was on it, but you'll come back and give em hell.

The game is great but it's frustrates me a little bit the way X-Com did. I can't seem to get any crew members leveled very high before they go on a bad mission and get killed.
