Halo Family, Forza Porche, Banner Bunch

I finished my Halo book and starting another one. I decided my favorite car in Forza Horizon 4 isn't the BMW X5 suv but the Porche Cayenne suv. And I attempted to replay all of Banner Saga 1.

This is Halo: Bad Blood by Matt Forbeck.

This is about the Alpha-Nine Team led by Buck, the guy Nathan Fillian voiced in Halo 3: ODST. The team has suffered a loss of a "family" member through betrayal. After the Covenant fight, the Spartans were tasked with fighting the human resistance to the UNSC again, and one member of Alpha-Nine didn't like that and tried to defect. This broke up Alpha-Nine and Buck found himself on Locke's Team Osiris. Well, since Cortana has been taking over the universe with her Forerunner friends, there's need of Alpha-Nine again. How they get "the family" back together, or don't, is the basis of the book.

There are battles with Forerunners, a meetup with MC's Blue Team and Locke's team from Halo 5, resistance fighters, and a Huragok. All that may mean nothing to you, but it's all great grist for the Halo reading mill. I enjoyed it, but I was let down by the ending. I can't spoil it by saying why, but. . . less family dynamics and more Forerunner tech please. Nerds demand it.

Then I watched Jupiter Acending. I thought it was too long and very predictable. Fun though. Some interesting ideas about genetics in there.

I decided that I like the Porche Cayenne better than the BMW X5 in Forza Horizon 4. It's got better acceleration and I put a body kit on it to make it an off-road beast. It looks cool but I forgot to upload the screen shot I took.

Then a lot of Banner Saga 1 on easy. I'm tearing through the story choosing different things to see what happens. I also got the achievements for using the character types I hadn't used yet. The enemy is still griefing me even on easy. As they are losing they single out on player of mine and gang up on him 'til he's dead. Really? I really hate that. I just want to beat the trilogy and experience the full span of the story across all three games.

That's a day. One more until Thanksgiving.

I vaguely remember hearing about Jupiter Ascending. Sounds interesting.

It was pretty silly when you get right down to it. Looked great though. Acting was good.

I may not get caught up in cars, but damn I love Porsche. I haven’t seen that Jupiter movie but I deeply respect th Wachowskis.

I liked the look of the BMW X5 in real life, but when I drove the virtual Porche version of it in the game, I was hooked. I wonder how they both drive in real life?

I'm not a fan of most sports cars. They are too small. I like the suvs of a certain size, not those gigantic ones. I don't like big pickups either, too bulky. I do like the Ford Bronco for some reason. I had to tell my friend to stop telling me it was the OJ car, because I liked an earlier model from the 70s, not that one.

I like the Porsche SUV but I also like the sedans. I'm a sedan kind of guy.

Ha ha. Sedans are cool. Everyone has their favorite. I tried to get my nephew to tell me his favorite but he dodged the issue. I think he likes sports cars though.

The plot to that Halo book sounds like it would be a fun game to play. I'm surprised the stories aren't being made into a game. Heck it wouldn't have to be a like conventional Halo game, maybe something like an action game or a choose your own adventure like game.

Yea, if TellTale were still around, they could do a Halo Story based on one of these books.

I'm reading the latest one now, Halo Silent Storm, and I think it's a sign of what is coming in the next Halo game. It's going right back to the roots of the series. It takes place right after first contact with the Covenant. Master Chief and his Blue Team are on a dangerous mission to recover alien technology. I think it basically takes place before the events of Halo Reach and Halo Combat Evolved.

I only hope the next game is like this book.
