Berserker King Still Hiding

I searched for this Berserker King with Wiglaf on level 3 of the Lush Grasslands but couldn’t find the beast because I made a mistake and left myself unable to explore every part of the level.

eonI mapped nearly the whole level but for a few paths that were blocked. I fought a Cutter and killed it, forgetting to lead it to the closed paths. The Cutters will unblock them when they get near. Whoops. I had to return to Maginia, the airship city, to wait a whole day so the Cutters could repopulate. I remember in EOV that you could camp in the labyrinth. I wonder if I can still do that? It would’ve been more convenient to wait a day in the maze.

With random encounters, I practiced beating certain monsters with special skills to get prized body parts. With an electric kill on a fly you get an eyeball. By binding the head of an owl before killing it, you get a beak. I also met a golden monster variant. These are rare, stronger versions of the usual monster type. They give you bonus XP when you defeat them, but you must defeat them quickly because they tend to run away.

The first place I go when returning to Maginia is the shop. There I try to forge (read, upgrade) any of my current weapons with the materials I’ve gathered. If not, I sell every extra material and look at any new items that get made by the blacksmith. I’m sticking with one weapon type for each character. For instance, my Farmer uses spears, my War Mage a sword, my Medic and Zodiac use staves, and my Survivalist (read, ranger) a bow.

Then I hit the Inn and slept/saved until evening. I’ll return to the maze tomorrow.

It’s cool how items you find and sell open new stuff in the shop. Very rewarding gameplay.
