I finally met a bit of a challenge with these things called Galeteas and a Golem, but the real surprise was finding Birgitta’s Snow in a remote area of the labyrinth.

I picked up a few minor material gathering missions from the bar and headed out to a new labyrinth.. There I found these boney statues that awaken when you are battling random creatures and try to join the fight. When I finally battled one, nothing damaged it. It wasn’t hurting me either, so it was a stalemate. I tried a few things and discovered they are vulnerable to cold damage. Only one of my characters had a spell for that, so he had to do it all himself. With another spell to boost his damage, he could take one out in one hit. Then I started prolonging random encounters to lure in the Galateas. They were blocking the path in a few spots anyway.

Then I encountered a giant Golem. I was handling it but it had a reflect ability that turned my awesome attacks against me, and I lost two party members. I was able to raise them back up and beat the thing, but this was my first real challenge in the game on Picnic difficulty. I’m glad I’m going to have to use more strategy. It's more interesting that way. 

Before entering this new labyrinth, I had taken on a NPC to my party. Her name was Birgitta and she wanted me to look for her Snow. I thought this was a person, but when I found it, it was not. It was a pet, or group of pets, part bat, part fluff ball. I guess I’ve got nothing better to do than hunt for lost pets. What am I, Ace Ventura?
