It's funny cause I saw that performance when it aired and everyone hated Katy Perry at the time for some reason, but the kid's dance took off.
What’s with This Floss Dance?

Let me describe my history with this dance move, because it has haunted me for a month now ever since I first saw it.
I first came across it as a dance emote in Forza Horizon 4. You can assign victory dances to your character that show at the end of races. I thought this was a particularly zany and silly dance move. It made me laugh immediately.
Then, while watching TV with my friend Mark, I saw numerous commercials where someone was doing The Floss. I thought, that’s funny, why is it so popular suddenly?
Then I read on wiki, that The Floss emoji had been removed from Forza Horizon 4. The reason, according to wiki, is that Russel Horning’s mom (Russel Horning having performed the dance on SNL in 2017) sued Epic Games over it being in Fortnight. Then Playground Games removed it from Forza Horizon 4 to avoid a similar suit. I will check myself that it’s not in Forza Horizon 4 tomorrow.
Then I watched the youtube video above that shows Russel Horning introducing it to the world on SNL in 2017. But the fact that it is in Fortnight explains everything to me as to why it’s popular now, and why I see kids doing it in commercials. Mystery solved.
