Your description of Headlander reminds me of the Futurama episode where Richard Nixon's head was on top of the giant robot and won the Presidental election. The game sounds fun, especially with I'm assuming as you get into later levels you get different bodies that are used for specific scenarios.
Forza, Crackdown and Headlander

I drove a van in Forza, a flat-bed truck in Crackdown and a myriad of robot bodies in Headlander the other day.
Forza Horizon 4: The weekly challenge was to own and drive a Ford van and perform various challenges in it. Then I did the only daily challenge available. I think it was for trading paint ten times. I did another freeroam adventure round and then started doing all the seasonal challenges before I got invited to play co-op in Crackdown 3.
Crackdown 3: I went into the game with a new character while MadKrammer used his maxed out one. I wanted to see how fast I would level up. It was fast but not fast enough. I've taken for granted the massive benefits leveling up gives you in the game. I was like a tiny child next to his Terry Crews monster. I had to stay behind as he defeated the top boss in record time. I couldn't even get past the front door.
After that, I switched back to my maxed out character and we hunted for hidden orbs and ripped down all the other bosses for fun. Eventually we did something we used to do in Crackdown 1. I'd drive a flat-bed truck and he'd shoot rockets from the back. Here's a pic:
Headlander: Made by Double Fine and specifically by the guy who did Stacking. I think that's Lee Petty. I loved Stacking.
Headlander's main trick is that you are a detachable head that can attach to robot bodies and various terminals in the world. You start on a space ship and then a space station. I don't know what else yet. It's a puzzle game but also an action game, as you can shoot things with lasers and have to defend yourself against enemy robots. I like that mix of action and puzzle. It's why I liked similar games like The Cave and Cloning Clyde.
This game is very funny too. The dialog is great. I was getting really hooked on it before I had to stop for the day.
Oh, and I love the art aesthetic. It harkens back to Atari and the 70s, but in a far future in some alien part of the universe (I think).
That's a day.
