Yeah, there are a few games out there that I've always wanted to get into, but for one reason or another, I just bounced off. I think the biggest one was Zelda Skyward Sword. I kept trying it, but just couldn't get the flying bird to work. I really wish I could...I'd love to playb through it. But I just can't get past that.
Bounced Off Rage 1, Again

I tried to get farther in Rage 1 again. I got a little farther but not very much. I really like graphics and post apocalyptic setting, but I ultimately don't like the controls.
I wanted to lean heavily on the wingsticks and watch heads fly. I got that only once. The gunplay really got to me after a while. I got past where I did the last time, which was somwhere in the dead city. I was on another major story mission when the shooting just drove me nuts. It was a combination of the way the Ai moves and acts and the tuning of the aiming.
This game feels like it was intended for keyboard-and-mouse and not console controller. The aiming requires pixel-point percision with hardly any aim assist, as is necessary for a controller's analog stick. The AI, also, is infuriating. Everything deeks and dodges and moves so erradically that shooting from the hip is the only way you can hit anything. Add to that a glacially slow quick-scope, and you have shooter frustration that builds after a few hours of play.
And, I don't like scrounging for ammo all the time. It's not a huge problem, but I could never remember to go buy more. In every other game you can usually find enough from enemy caches. Sure you can find some in Rage, but not enough.
I have better hopes for the Avanlanche (Just Cause) made Rage 2. From the trailers it seems as though mechanics are not going to a problem. I can't wait to get a copy when it goes on sale.
