I look at Achievements like trinkets. Nice to have and look at, but ultimately useless. I play games for fun. Not as a measure of how good I am. If I wanted to do that, I'd play a fighting game online to remind myself how bad I am at competition.
Reassessment

I finally had enough grinding for achievements in Borderlands 2, Xbox 360 version. So much so, that I wiped my whole hard drive of installed games and started over. I'm from here on out not going after achievements or trophies. I really don't have the time, and, after a lot of grinding, reduces my enjoyment of gaming. So today I played a lot of other stuff.
First off, one last update of Borderlands 2, Xbox 360 version. I finished all missions but the RAID boss on the main game (I need to be level 50 at least to beat it). Then I did about half the Scarlett DLC missions before I realized all I needed to do for the remaining related achievement was to start my level 50 Assassin and get into a secret room on a particular level. I wasted half a day when I could've finished that achievement in less than 10 minutes.
Then I switched back to my level 33 Gunzerker and went about completing all the missions in the Mr. Torgue DLC. I did everything but the three missions that require a level 50 or more character. I quickly moved to the Sir Hammerlock DLC and that's where I got broken. I'd finally burned completely out. I quit out of the game and uninstalled it.
Then I went through my installed games and uninstalled anything I didn't feel immediately thrilled about playing. Then I played Inside and got stuck very early in the game, same with Wolfenstein Old Blood - both got uninstalled. I played all the remaining games in Disney Afternoon Collection and uninstalled that too. What the heck am I playing platformers and banging my head against a wall of annoying cheap deaths. I uninstalled everything.
Then today, I started installing new stuff again. I bought a few games at $5 like Uno, Tintanfall 2 and the Monopoly card game. I started the install on games like Dead Rising 4, that LotRs Mordor game, Ark Survival Evolved and a farming sim I forget the name of on Game Pass. While I waited i played Monopoly online, Monopoly card game (which is good), and Uno (which was awesome when Mark joined me). It's all about enjoyment now, no more chasing achievements.
That's all. Things got to change every so often.
