Some Gaming Thoughts

A friend at work got me thinking about Ori and the Blind Forest, so I think I'll download that from Game Pass next week. That got me thinking about Guacamelee 2, also on Game Pass, so I think I'll download that too. It's going to be platformers for me. But there's more.

My friend also mentioned Outer Wilds, and I had just heard about the new update on a podcast; now I'm interested. So I'll download that too from Game Pass. I'm not totally sure what that game is about except that you explore a lot. It could be cool.

Which brings me to the hard drive limitations on my Xbox One. It's constantly full now with all the dowloads from Games with Gold, Game Pass, digital buys and a single physical game in my disc drive, which is also installed on the hard drive. I have games waiting for space to dowload now.

I've noticed that whenever some room is created on the drive, the system grabs the lowest size game to download first. That's actually kind of helpful because I got Bards Tale 1-3 installed with my drive over 90% full and half a dozen larger games waiting in line. I was in the mood for turn-based RPGs. Turns out I didn't get to it because I got into Battle Chasers instead. Well, it's ready when I need it anyway.

I'll see what I actually decide to play next week when I get in front of my Xbox One. I'm in the middle of COD Black Ops II, and so I might want to finish that first. I'll just add all that other stuff to the queue. I got backlogs on top of backlogs.

Ive been 90% playing on Switch. My PS4 is set up at the house now but I still havent touched it. I need to change that. I started Kingdom Hearts 2 awhile back but havent finished it. I also have quite a few untouched games.

I ended up buying an external hard drive for my PS4 for that very reason. Memory fills up quickly on these systems. The external allows me to have 3 tbs more to use. I also had to upgrade my switch to the 400gb. They started selling the 1tb memory cards but they are $500.00! Omgee!

That's way overpriced. I got my 2 TB external Seagate drive for my laptop for under $100.

I'm not so concerned with memory on my console anymore. All my games are viewable on my account, I just have to download them to play them. I can get quite a few games installed on my hard drive unless it's something like a Rockstar game that uses up over 75 GB.

I reviewed the first Guacamelee game.  it was a fun "Metroidvania" kind of game mixed with Luchador wrestling.  It was kind of hard, though, and you'd never know how to get the good ending unless you beat it first.  Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the few Xbox One games I'd like to play.

I hate it that these game companies want you to download their games, and yet they give you paultry memory space on the consoles.  This is one of the reasons why I still prefer physical.

I'll probably never beat Guacamelee or Ori but I'll try.

Even the physical disc has to be installed on the hard drive to play it now. I was fine until I got Game Pass, now I got too many I want to try. I'm fine with the games all being attached to my account where I can download them anytime.

Guacamelee 2 is fantastic. That's all I gotta say.

I liked the first one even though I got stuck and never finished it.

Oh, geez! You had to go and mention Bard's Tale! I had the original PC game back in the day, with the big ass map so you knew where you were and where you were going. Now I'm going to have to get an XBoxOne at some point.

Yeah. You can play in remastered and original mode too. There's an auto-map for the remastered mode. It's on Steam as well. Weird that's it's not also on Switch and PS4 though.

Bard's Tale IV remastered is also coming. I never played that one.

I played Bard's Tale 1 on NES, if I remember right. I never played it on PC, just Wizardry.

Those Black Ops single player campaigns can be pretty fun. I gave up on the online multiplayer years ago though.

I played some of that zombie mode. I tried to get my friend to play with me in that because it's PvE and not PvP. No go. Other than that, I'm not into multiplayer either.

I forgot to mention the rock climbing and wingsuit segment. That was cool.
