I played several different games for rewards points today. Here's a breakdown.
Wizard of Legend: This an ID@Xbox game. It's an action rpg. Very old school style graphics, say, similar to SNES. It's basically a kind of Rogue-light game. You enter arenas that remind me of old Gauntlet and fight it out with various spells and melee attacks. It's got a funny story where you begin by going through a museum showcasing classic aspects of old rpgs. Then you are put into one yourself. I found dying a lot not to my taste but I got the several achievements needed for the Rewards points. It was fun while it lasted.
World War Z: This feels a lot like Left 4 Dead but with huge hoards of zombies. You play solo with three AI or go online and play with friends or randoms. Each level takes you through various environments where you have to open doors while zombies attack you. Then, at the end, you fight a truely huge army of zombies. It's frantic and feels a little like defending against a whole line of troops advancing on your position. I had to play it for an achievement but I stayed in until I beat a level. I didn't really want to continue with it, so I left it after the Rewards points unlocked.
Subnautica: I restarted this. I needed two achievements in it for Rewards points. I had already gotten one last week, but that didn't count. I played it for a good long time and found a lot of neat stuff to play with in the game. I explored underwater a lot, built fins and an air tank to speed up and extend my dives. I also buit a floating pump which I connected to pipe to extend air down in the water so I wouln't have to come all the way back to the surface. I tried to fight off a large predator but only scared it away. I built a scanner to create blueprints based on found fragments of broken devices.
The ocean is very deep and there are a lot of caves. It takes a while to increase your dive time. I had to break frequently to get food and water to stay alive. In the course of that, I discovered that, with the knife you can build, you can scrape off more resources from coral or kelp. That helped me with my water problem.
In the several hours played I didn't unlock a single achievement. I got a bit tired of the slow but steady progress. This game is beautiful though. When you catch fish you get a close look at them and they are strange and colorful like tropical Earth fish. It's a marvelous game. I might go back to it before the month is out and the Rewards quest ends.
