Building the Permanent Games Library

I’ve started a row on my bookshelf for a games library. I used metacritic’s all-time highest rated database as a guide. I went down the list and picked games that I wanted to play again and ones I’ve been desperate to play for years. Here’s the list I made from page one.
- Halo: Combat Evolved
- Half-Life 2
- Bioshock
- Uncharted 2
- Batman Arkham City
- Mass Effect 2
- Zelda Twilight Princess
- Zelda Wind Walker
- Baldur’s Gate II
- Grand Theft Auto Vice City
- Halo 2
- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Bioshock Infinite
- Final Fantasy IX
- God of War (2018)
- Chrono Cross
- Gears of War
- Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
- Quake
- Halo 3
- Burnout 3 Takedown
I aim to have a physical copy of each. Some I’ll get both physical and digital for convenience sake. I have the first 8 and 5 others physical.
I hope to play each again, one a month. I’m currently set up with Halo C.E. on original Xbox at home and the digital version from Master Chief Collection on my Xbox One at Mark’s place. Of course, I haven’t played them yet because of Minecraft, but that’s ok. No pressure.
But the other day I at least watched the opening cut scene and played the first moments of Master Chief’s “birth” from cyro on original Xbox. You know that opening close-up of bacteria and subsequent zoom out to a world that’s used as part of the Bungie logo in the very first few moments of boot? That sequence immediately brought back the early 2000s for me and the many, many weekends Mark and I played Halo.
