Lego Down, Shantae Up

It's rare when I finish a game and all its achievements, but I've done three this week, the third one today.

Lego Ninjago

I finished this game and all of its achievements. There were some tricky moments near the end but I managed it. The hardest thing was a race at the Ninjago Docks. I can't believe.i did every other race without using a figure with a speed ability but I didn't know there were figures with speed. The icon for it suggests nothing about speed. I knew there must be one though because I did this race so many times and still needed to knock 9 seconds off.my score. It seemed impossible without a boost. I thought it would come from red scrolls that when found give you different "cheats" like invincibility. But no, it was fiigures I already had. They got lost in the 150 character roster.

Operencia

I tried to find the items I needed. I think they are skills lying around the maze. I looked up a guide but still had trouble finding these tiny skulls on the ground. I got fed up and stopped playing.

Shantae Half-genie Hero

This was a free Games with Gold game this week. I got through the first two bosses and am going strong. I really like it. It mixes platforming with story telling and exploring towns.

The platforming challenges me but doesn't break me with difficulty. You can dance and change form. The monkey is essential in platforming.

I love the colorful graphics and fun dialog. The bosses are big and interesting, each requiring different strategies. I'm really enjoying it.

I was doing great until this verticle platforming section where a giant monster if forcing you upwards. I kept getting killed over and over and had to start at the beginning every time. It finally got to me. Darn it, these platfromers with their crazy challenges.

I'm surprised you are playing Shantae since you don't get into 2-D platformers. I'm glad you are giving it a try, though. I sure do like Shantae games. I can't wait for the next one: Shantae and the Seven Sirens.

I'll try anything. I go through phases where I'll just play stuff almost at random just to see if something surprises me. I was surprised by Shantae but I eventually got stuck. I might go back to it though. I really want to beat it to see all the boss designs and hear the story.

Wayforward is such a great game developer. You can feel the excellence in the controls and overall design. I'll try anything they put out.

I have all the Shantae games except Half-Genie Hero but I've played only the first one. Been meaning to get on those for several years now...

Oh right, there are others. I'll have to take a closer look at those.
