Last night I wanted to play something like Broforce, a game that is just stupidly fun. I looked and looked but couldn't find anything else that my wife and I could play together that seemed to fit the bill, so we went back to Overcooked, which has a similarly chaotic feel even if the gameplay is very different. We still could not beat the same level we were stuck on before (this insane lava level), so we tried one of the DLC episodes and plowed through several levels before going to bed. Sometimes fun is not about having a challenge. Sometimes that's what you need.
On My PS4 Today

I wonder sometimes whether certain games have forgotten they are entertainment and become devices for mental torture. Pixeljunk to the rescue. I ended today on a good note. Although, the rest of my locality didn't. We got a lockdown order. But about the games. . .
I played some EDF 4.1 today on PS4 because my friend Mark inspired me by playing EDF 2025 on Xbox. I got to the very last level on normal with my ranger and got stuck there, unable to finish the game. It got me so annoyed. So I replayed level one on hardest to get some weapon drops. Nothing was given, so I got even more annoyed. Then I did some levels on hard starting with level 15 and got the same results, nothing. This game can get so annoying. It’s so stingy with drops and so unpredictably brutal on some levels. I had to put the game down or risk smashing my head into a wall.
So I bought Gauntlet Slayer Edition on sale for a couple of bucks. It proved to be just like the orginal Gauntlet, kind of tough and unforgiving, designed more for multiplayer. I don’t have PS Plus right now, so that wasn’t an option. It looked nice and was true to the original in a lot of ways, so that was good. I don’t like death appearing under my feet randomly and instant killing me, though. To heck with that. So I moved on.
I started Pixeljunk Monsters 2 and the first thing I saw was a message saying would I like to play level one on “fun” difficulty. Music to my ears. I played through three levels before the day ended. All my strategies from the first game started coming back to me. It has all the features of the first game but with better graphics. So there was little new for me to learn gameplay wise. It’s great. I love a good tower defense game especially after my frustrations with the previous two games.
