Today I played EDF Insect Armageddon and Kingdome Hearts III. Then I thought I'd share my plans for media in April.
EDF Insect Armageddon. I finally got Mark to play along. It's very easy to set up a co-op game unlike in the other EDF games. I played as the Jet character who has a jet pack and Mark was his usual Ranger; although, I'm not sure what that class is called in EDFIA, the terminology is a little bit different from the main EDF games. We're playing on Normal difficulty which is the lowest, but it's no picnic with new characters. Mark had to start over because he never made a cloud save of the game on Xbox 360 and I wanted to play somthing new with the Jet character. It's a lot of fun. The animation is a bit better than EDF 2025 but there is a little lack of punch in the weapons and destruction. Weapons feel more powerful and destruction more tangible in EDF 2025 for some reason. But the dialog is better in EDFIA, if that matters. The cheesy dialog in EDF 2025 is so terrible it's entertaining. EDFIA is a very solid addition to the EDF formula and is better in the way it implements online.
Kingdom Hearts III: I played quite a lot of this waiting for Mark to get settled in EDFIA enough to play online. Battles are a lot of fun with those crazy special moves. I traveled between worlds where you can play a kind of 2D shooter minigame reminiscnet of Galaga or Space Invaders. I got the camera a took some pictures. I also made some meals at the bistro with the Ratatouie rat. The game makes you do some simple minigames to prepare different meals. I find the pacing of the cut scenes unbearable slow, but they are gorgeous to look at and the story is passably interesting. I'm realiziing with all the worlds you can visit and stuff you can collect, that this is going to take some time to finish. I'm not sure I'm up for completionist stuff but I'll try and focus on the main story and finish that at least.
April. My original plan was this:
Book: Dante's Divine Comedy
Music: Bartok's Sonata for 2 pianos and percussion
Film: Wall-E
Game Uncharted 2
This is based on various critiria I set up for myself, but I'm keen to change it to a kind of historic pattern. Each month is another period in a media's history and I choose within that limitation. The list would then be this:
Book Le Morte D'Arthur
Music: Bartok and period friends like Poulenc, Copland, etc...
Film: Marx Brothers movies
Game: Pong and related games. I'm thinking stuff like Breakout, which I really liked back then.
But, I'm kind of commited to the first list right now, so I dont' know. I may wait until next year to implement my history based list.
Kingdom Hearts 3 took me about 25 hours to beat. But I think half of that time was spent in cut scenes. Seriously, they play the entire "Let it Go" song in the Frozen world.
The Rataouille mini-game isn't that great for some recipes, but I do like its inclusion. Have you gotten any of the Game & Watch style mini games yet? I loved those. I also like how Scrooge McDuck owns the restaurant and uses the Game & Watch games to promote his outdoor movie theater!
Oh thanks for telling me about the Let it Go song. I now must complete it just to annoy my friend Mark who can't stand that song.
I got one for my Gummy Phone, but I don't know how to access it. I thought it would be in the camera menu since, I think, the camera is also the phone, but I didn't see it.
I've read a good deal of that Arthur book. I love that stuff.
I know I must've read it long ago, but I don't remember much other than the story was used for the movie Excalibur.
