Sky Kid, Wizardry and Zoo Tycoon today.

Sky Kid: I got past the first fortress in classic fashion. I flew low, pulled up at the last second, dropped my bomb, and got away. A team of cheering girls appeared and I shot at them. They turned into something I couldn't quite tell ( they looked liked ghosts or something). Then I landed and began mission two which proved difficult against anti-air flak guns and suicidal enemy planes.

One thing games should stop doing is attacking you with kamakazi enemies. Who the F does that except in really extreme situations? It's a lousy mechanic that I despise from retro to Borderlands 3. Enough with that already.

Wizardry: Oh, why, but I continue. First I lost two heads on level 3. My level 9 characters were handling enemies down on level 5 and they get decapitated on level 3, WTF! I rage quit for a while to play Xbox One, but I returned and promptly bungled a teleportation trap on a chest and got sent to an area where I couldn't use spells. I did some quick mapping and found out I was on the same level, level 5, but I couldn't use spells still. Weird because I was just using spells on another part of that same level. I just managed to escape thanks to a generous "run" command. The game lets you run pretty easily but you have to face a random encounter over and over again. I did it until I got one that was manageable. Is there any way this game can not grief me continually?

Well, Mark and I discovered (or rather rediscovered) farming the Ring of Death in the Monster Allocation Center for 250k gold a pop. Someone has to die on the return trip though because the ring drains you 5 HP per step and no amount of healing spells can get you back in time. I got a plan for next time though. That 250K will come in real handy once I get the ring identified with a Wizard I'm going to level up.

I swear I didn't have this much trouble with this game last time I revisited it, oh, back in, probably, 2005. Mark and I beat it over two days. racing each other to the battle with Werdna.

I should mention that Mark is also playing Wizardry and we compare notes frequently. He's got some old characters and a heaping huge pile of gold to work with. So much he forwent even creating a theif and made two mages instead. I wish I could do that. I'm like the Knight in old beat up armor and he's walking in with shiny plate and feathered helms. He farmed the Ring of Death and had 1 million gold, gosh darn it.

Zoo Tycoon: This was for rewards points on Xbox One, but I was so happy to revisit it. I'd played the 360 version that came out in 2013 and loved it. This is a spruced up version with two new campaigns and online features. I had to clean up 20 poos for the rewards points but I continued very far into the first campaign before reluctantly stopping to get in another round of Wizardry before the day was out. I'm going to keep Zoo Tycoon on my hard drive until I can get back and finish it in every possible way.

I'm sure Cary will tell me what they really are.

I always thought they turned into cats in the NES version.  But I guess they could be ghosts.  In the arcade, version, they turn into gravestones when you shoot them, but they still dance and cheer.

Oh, maybe they were cats. They were white and black which made me think of ghosts. They go by pretty quick so I didn't get a long look at them.

Here's a tip for Sky Kid.  You know how when you get shot, you go into a spin dive?  Well, if you hit the 'loop-da-loop" button a bunch of times, you have a chance of pulling out of the dive and continuing on.  You only truly die when you hit the ground.

Oh yeah, right. I forgot about that. I'll definitely use that next time.

Fun fact: the villain of the Wizardry series is the name of one of its creators spelled backwards, Andrew Greenberg. That's also my name, LOL.

Nice. The other day I was writting the boss's name and spelled it "Weirdna" before I remembered that fact.
