Damn, Wizardry is brutal. And complex. I can see why people like it though.
Wizardry Golf Dishonored

Some more Wizardry punishment and Golf with Your Friends today. I started Dishonored 2 as well, but put it aside so Mark and I could play Golf online.
Wizardry: I created a Wizard and made him level 6. Then i took my old level 1 fighter with my level 10 crew and went to mine my first Ring of Death. The first attmept was an utter failure. The High Ninja and Clerics in the Monster Allocation center got off their attacks before me and killed my theif and cleric before I could finish them. That just wouldn't do, so I restarted. Well, I restarted after a long break where I fumed and stomped my feet about how unfair this game is. Then I tried the encounter again and came up winnners. I gave the Ring to my already dead level 1 fighter and headed back to the castle. There I gave the ring to my wizard and he attempted to identify it. But what should happen? Just by trying to identify it, he was trapped by the ring and forced to equip it. Only the purchase of an anti-curse in the shop would relieve him of it. Reasonably, this should cost a lot but not the whole price of the weapon, but that's how it is in Wizardry. You would have to pay the full 250K to uncurse it, thereby ruining any possible gain in gold. That was the last straw. What does Popeye say? "That's all I can stands, cuz I can't stand n'more.".
Golf with Your Friends: Mark bought this and didn't especially like it but I watched and saw that it looked really good. It then came to Game Pass so I installed it and we played online today. The game plays fine and looks great but these courses are crazy complicated and totally unforgiving. There are traps everywhere and it's very easy to go out of bounds, too easy. Getting a 14 shot score on a hole is enough to make me wonder, not about my skill, but about what the heck the game is trying to do to me.
The other issue is time limits on the default mode. You have a limited amount of time to play the hole and a limited amount of shots. It's quite annoying, with a very complex course, to not have time enough to survey it so you know where you are going. I started every hole by popping into the camera and looking around. But there is also a time limit on the free roaming camera. I found that beyond frustrating.
The game isn't so bad though. I'm going to play through each 18 hole course and try out the special modes and whatnot. I don't see myself replaying anything though. Simpler courses with less chances at out-of-bounds shots would probably keep me playing. I really wish for a Hot Shots Golf (now Everybody's Golf) on Xbox, but it is a Playstation exclusive.
I'm going to play Dishonored 2 very soon too for a Game Pass quest but possibly more if it's fun. I played the tutorial and watched the first cut scene today. I'll get to it more next time.
