Marvin's Rare Nightwar Adventure

I'd like to see Marvin the Martian be the leading character in a game. You could pour out different aliens to fight for you as you attempt to take over earth. It'd be like Overlord meets Destroy All Humans.

Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions (SNES): I got to the first boss again and did some major damage but didn't beat it. Marvin is inside what looks like a jet fighter that shoots and has a robotic arm with a rotating saw on the end. I kept shooting the cockpit, but I guess I didn't do enough damage before I ran out of continues. I'll try again next time.

Disneyland Adventures: I'm down to two secrets in a single chapter within Splash Mountain to complete the game. I thought I just had to steer my dugout canoe down a river and avoid rocks and Brer Bear's barrels, but I soon learned I also have to avoid Brer Fox throwing beehives at me. I must've played the section 8 or 9 times before taking a break. I've mastered the rocks and barrels, now I just have to watch Brer Fox. Next time I'll get it, I'm sure.

Side note: "Brer", I learned, is an abreviation of "brother" in an old southern dialect. The things you learn in games.

Rare Replay

I played all the games released 1990-94.

Snakerattle N Roll: This, an isometric action game similar in look and feel to games like Q'bert and Crystal Castles. You move a snake head around, avoid enemies, and eat up colored balls. If you eat up the right color, you gain back the segments of your snake body. Once you have enough, you can ring a bell and leave the level. I got past the first level but gave up on the second because moving around is a sloppy afair that gets you killed more often than not. These controls need to be tightened up.

Solar Jetman: You pilot a ship that handles like the capsule in Lunar Lander or Gravitar. You have to go pick up resources, ship parts and fuel and bring it back to the mother ship while being attacked by aliens and gun emplacements. I found the realistic gravity and thrust controls interesting but hard to handle. Also, my tether to items kept breaking for no apparent reason. It got real frustrating. I love the scifi cartoon look of it though.

Digger T. Rock: Kind of like Dig Dug but with a larger environment. You crawl around and dig tunnels and pick up items while you look for the exit. Then you play a strange minigame where the roof falls in on you so quickly I kept dying. But, you still get to level 2. That's where I stopped because there is a dragon-like thing at the end of the level while ate up my continues.

Battletoads: A fun brawler, but I didn't finish it. I ran out of continues over lots of cheap hits. I like eating flies to regain some health between levels.

RC Pro Am II: This was kind of a fun racing game. I played through the 9th raceway before running out of continues. You can upgrade your RC car between races with your winnings. F'n A.I. kicks your butt on most races though. Airplanes also drop bombs on some tracks. What's with that? I found it impossible to avoid them.

Battletoads Arcade: I finished this one with infinite continues. I love being able to throw enemies out of the screen (seemingly). Sometimes I got butt kicked and thrown out of the screen too. I played as Pimple. Why, oh why are the toads called Zit, Rash and Pimple? I don't really want to choose any of them. The game isn't just a brawler. Sometimes you move vertically and swing from a vine and attack foes, and near the end the game it becomes a shooter like Gradius. I enjoyed it. I can't imagine who would have spent all those quarters to get to the end of it. I wonder how much that would've been? I should've counted my continues, but I'm sure you could've spent $15 getting to the end in the arcade.

Battlechasers: Nightwar: I returned to this and got to Junk Town. My characters are at level 9 in this turn-based RPG. You wander down paths on the world map, enter dungeons where you can free roam and fight turn-based battles. There are a lot of items, skills and magic spells to play with. I really like it.

Well, I'm having an issue with my friend right now. He's kind of obsessed with a job he's doing and it's not all that pleasant to play games over there right now. I may reduce my gaming to just Sundays, which means I might not game hardly at all. We'll see.

Like I said before, if I had an Xbox One, Rare Replay would be one of the games I'd get right away.

I remember my friend and I renting Snake, Rattle, and Roll and Solar Jetman.  I liked Snake, Rattle, and Roll because it reminded me of Marble Madness, but it was very hard.  My friend and I cracked the password system in Solar Jetman and we thought we were really cool for doing so.

Battletoads is known as one of the hardest NES games.  My local Pizza Inn had the Battletoads arcade game for a while.  I enjoyed that one more.  That's the cool thing about that Pizza Inn is that they always had some obscure arcade games in the back!

I was really keen on getting Rare Replay when it came out. I love collections.

RC Pro AM is fun. I remember playing that.

I've been thinking about buying Battlechasers for a while. Heard it's really good. But I don't know if I'm gonna buy it on Switch of iPad. Cheaper on iPad, and that's a bigger screen, but having buttons is nice too.

RC Pro AM II was surprisingly good. I didn't crash so often. They let me hit the sides without crashing.

It's not an action game at all, so maybe you don't need buttons? The only thing I had to do fast was push a button in the free roaming dungeons when I wanted to try and surprise a foe.
