Man, I really do love the Game Boy Player. Always made me feel like I was playing the GBA Metroids on a console. Love it.

Not feeling all that great about today's gaming. I'm feeling rather wanting to do something else next weekend like ride a bike or hike really really far. But, here's what was on today's menu.
Ren & Stimpy: Space Cadet Adventures [GB]: I played this on my Game Boy Player on GameCube so I could see it on the big screen. I got further in the side scrolling platformer but it is pretty difficult. Some obstacles seem unavoidable. I think I'll dig into my Game Boy Color games and see what's fun next time.
The Bard's Tale ARPG: Remastered and Resnarkled: I played a good chunk of this getting to the first tower area. I ended up in a bad spot where every quest I could do were all impossible. I had two summoned helpers, a brawler and a healer, while I shot my arrows. It plays a bit like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance but a little bit slower. You can't dive roll out of the way and shooting arrows is a bit slow. So I used my brawler summon to keep them busy while I hung back and shot away. Unfortunately I got into areas where I kept getting surrounded and killed. I enjoyed it though. The dialog is very funny. I played this game to some degree when it came out in 2004 on original Xbox. I don't remember getting very far, so maybe I only played a demo of it. It was fun.
Overlord II: I started a new game in this Xbox 360 back compat title that I played years ago, probably around 2008. I call it Xbox's Pikmin. The mechanics are just like Pikmin where you control 10 to 20 small gremlins and your main character. The game gets more tactical as you go along. You have four minion types that do different things. It's a bit of chore to get them to do what you want, but it works pretty well. I love the humor of the game as you play an evil warlord leading his army against elves and other do-gooders. Sometimes the goodies aren't so good either. There's humor infused everywhere on all sides. I believe Rhiana Pratchet, daughter of Terry Pratchet, wrote the script. Anyway, I love this series and wish it was still going, or someone would make another Pikmin-like game for Xbox.
