Just an interactive novel where you learn the true depth of sorrow as a valkyrie who rescues the souls of dead soldiers and brings them to valhalla. Did you know crying is quite exhausting after a while? I mean, who can do ten hours of this? I wiped my eyes and played the following three games instead.

Retro
Devil May Cry (PS2)

I really like the story, the characters who are full of attitude, and the macabre setting. I don't like the way the camera changes position frequently so you can see your surroundings better from third-person view. It's jarring and sometimes confusing. However, I stil liked it, only, I got killed fairly easily sword fighting demons. I have guns as well, but for the life of me, I couldn't seem to use them no matter what button I pressed. There was no instruction on that in the first area. So, I wanted to like it more, but technical issues frustrated me.

Backlog
Valkyria Chronicles 4

I'm finally tackling my digital backlog since I've completed all the weekly and monthly rewards quests. I love VC4 so much. The graphics of tanks make me think of toys I used to have and models I used to make. The gameplay reminds me of war board games I used to play. I did the prologue and first mission and loved every second of it. I'll continue playing it in 90 minute sessions before my main game.

Main Game
Farm Together

I worked a lot on unlocking new plants, fish and animals while my quests were being finished by my farmhands. I consolidated a few fields, moved my farmhands around to optimize their areas of control, and built a second flower bed. Ten farmhands are about all I can keep up with right now. They need tickets I get from house chores. I had eleven farmhands, and it was hard to keep up with them all, so I removed one. I had too many working the bird pens anyway. I got an improvement machine for both my animals and crops and started leveling them. It's still fun, but I struggle to find tasks to do while waiting for my quests to finish. I have only a handful of achievements left but a few of them are going to take a while. I think there is DLC for this game too. I'm going to look into it when I've done the achievements.

What did you play today?

Loved Valkyria Chronicles 4. I got the Memoirs from Battle collectors' edition, and it was my 2018 GOTY.

There are just a handful of games I would love to have collector's editions for and this is one of them. I saw it at a BestBuy a while back and took a picture which I can't find right now. I wanted it for sure.

I need to play the original DMC games some time. I love what I've played of DmC.

I used to have the first three games. They're great but become real button mashers late in the game. I never beat any of them.

I rented DMC once. I liked it, but didn't really get into it. They've released them for Switch now. I'd like to give them another shot.

The environments have a cool vibe that makes me think of Dark Souls a bit.
