Mecho Wars: Desert Ashes

I played this a lot in between farming crops in Farm Together today.

I first played this on PS3 way back in 2012. It was a Playstation Mini game and would play on your PSP as well. I liked it a lot because it is very close to Advance Wars in gameplay: a turn-based strategy war game. It was remade as Mecho Wars: Desert Ashes in 2015 for the Vita. Last year it was brought to all the consoles and I got to play it on Xbox One this time. I'm enjoying it.

In other news. EA Play is now going to be part of Game Pass starting in November. That's a whole lot of new games coming into the service. I can't wait for that (probably a lot of sports games).

And in other, other news. Microsoft has this thing called Xbox Hall of Fame. It's a competition where winners get a Xbox Series X. You have to be the best in your region for a variety of things like gamerscore and number of Game Pass games played. There's also a competition going on Oct 1-19 for the same things. Additionally, Forza Horizon 4 has a new Hall of Fame track which, if you get the best time in your region, you win a Xbox Series X. It's neat. I downloaded Forza H4 again just to try it out. I won't win, nohow, but it's fun. I've played a lot of Game Pass games too, but I won't win at that either. The very serious players are likely in the stratosphere for various stats on Xbox. But, there's a rewards quest for getting 10k gamerscore this month, so I'll go for that.

What' new with you?

So yesterday on my day off, I played some of Super Mario 3-D All Stars.  Super Mario 64 is still very good even after all these years, but I've played it to death and the controls seems slightly off for some reason.  Probably because it's wireless now.  Plus that's one game in dire need of a makeover.  Super Mario Sunshine is still good, but boy the controls are slippery.  I remembered that on the GameCube, but it still holds true. And it gets frustrating really fast.  I must've been a more patient gamer back then.  But Super Mario Galaxy?  I had forgotten just how GOOD that game was!  I've always said that I would've given Portal my GOTY in 2007 had I played it that year, but Super Mario Galaxy is still a fine choice.

Oh yeah, and I finished No Straight Roads, now time to write the review.

I love the setting for the Super Mario Galaxy games. I want to try them again. Platformers though, really test my patience.

yeah, no matter how good you are at video games, or how many you play, there's always someone out there who puts you to shame. Good luck though!

Yeah, I'd have to make it my full time job to beat some of those players.

It's funny that I assumed this was another of your crazy mashed together blog titles but then it was the actual game name. And the dev has certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of that game! Speaking of Advance War-alikes reminds me that I still need to play Wargroove.

Oh heck yes, Wargroove. I love that game. I still have it sitting on my hard drive when I can get a chance to play it again.
