Hm, I want to love Vanillaware games for their art style alone, but I couldn't force myself to love Odin Sphere. It wasn't necessarily the lack of depth in the battle system, but the insane amount of repitition of environments, enemies, and bosses. Hopefully, Muramasa fixed that major issue.
Muramasa Rebirth, Dragon's Crown! PSVita Mine!

I preordered Muramasa Rebirth today for Playstation Vita, out June 25th. It's a port of Muramasa: The Demon Blade that came out on the Wii in 2009 with some extra characters and levels to play. I also hope there will be a upgrade to the graphics although this game looked great anyway and probably doesn't need much of that.
I bought Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Wii on day-one September of 2009. I got the preorder bonus poster (see pic) but I sadly let it get mangled since then. I played as Momohime until I got stuck on the boss Wanyudo. I was nearly able to beat it and, with a little more work, would’ve gotten to the next Act, but then Demon Souls came out and I jumped on that instead. I thought the controls for Muramasa on the Wii were very good and even though it allowed for control with the Classic Controller, I stuck with the Wiimote and Nunchuck. No game other than MadWorld has made me feel as comfortable with that strange arrangement of two controllers attached by a cord.
What sold me on Muramasa: The Demon Blade was mainly the art style, but I also liked the 2D side scrolling fighter RPG genre and since I was already a fan of Vanillaware for their PS2 games Odin’s Sphere and GrimGrimoire, another amazing looking game by them was a no brainer.
Now that it's out again on a system I don't have yet, it's motivating me, along with Dragon's Crown out in August, to pick up a Vita sometime next month. Call me a sucker for a beautiful Japanese art style. Vanillaware games have become a system seller for me.
