My mom watched the Witcher TV show on Netflix. Only thing I know about The Witcher is that one of the characters is a guest fighter in Soul Calibur VI.

Ah, the Witcher games. I've always been interested but for whatever reason haven't played 1, maybe an hour of 2 and a couple of hours of 3. Since Witcher 3 is now on Xbox's Game Pass and has come up several times for rewards quests, I've dipped my feet in the Witcher waters several more times. I hope to play more, but for this blog, I thought I'd read up on the whole series and share some of it.
First came the short stories by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowsky starting in 1986 collected later as The Last Wish in '93 and Sword of Destiny in '92. Then came the Geralt-focused sagas the games are based on: Blood of Elves ('94), Time of Contempt ('95), Baptism of Fire ('96), The Tower of the Swallow ('97), and The Lady of the Lake ('99). Season of Storms ('13) was a stand-alone novel connected with the short stories. A comic series by Dark Horse came out starting in 2014. I've always been interested in reading this series, I may yet still.
The first game by CD Projekt Red came out for PC in 2007. I probably didn't play it for that reason because I was pretty much done with PC games about that time. The second game came out in 2011 and began capturing my attention, especially when it finally got ported to Xbox 360. I want to say I tried it, but I'm not sure. Witcher 3 came out on pretty much everything in 2015 and I've had the opportunity to play it several times although not for more than a few hours. It's a deep game and sometimes that is daunting to me.
There has been a film and a TV show in Poland under the name The Hexer and now a TV show on Netflix. I haven't seen any of them but I'd like to.
I have access to both Witcher 2 and 3 on my Xbox One, so I have no excuse other than time to get to them.
